I know you have seen enough BR blasters in the past but some people asked me about my kit, so here`s the info for all.

kit : Sidkit (resin & some metal parts)

paint : aluminium spray, gun bolt metal, gloss rallye spray, no coats

modifications :

- real screws/bolts, so nothing is glued
- M3 nuts to secure the amber grips to the resin frame & cylinder arm axis
- buttplate shape (too thin anyway)
- solid trigger axis instead of brass tubes
- spring powered first trigger
- trigger frame reshaped
- 5th 5mm LED at Steyr clip
- green LED`s at "screwdriver"
- cylinder stop hole on bulldog frame
- lil screws on Steyr clip casing
- on/off switch on Steyr clip
- Steyr serial number
- flip-up bolt & slide in and out pin
- some small things like deeper screw holes etc.
- accurate triggers are coming next week

Finally the kit was a good help to find out how the real prop was constructed, so I`ll start on my real parts after I`ve get back my Bulldog Revolver from the Gunsmith (longer barrel).

AWESOME. It looks beautiful.

Which parts are resin? The Steyr clip and housing?

I gotta' say, I love how Karl's wondercon pics have changed everyone's idea of the blaster and the accepted paint scheme/setup of the piece.

Very nice work. I never get sick of seeing this blaster. :D

I couldnt agree more.. The new paint schemes and builds that we have seen in the past few week have been awesome... If only I could be brave enough to redo my own Blaster :) I guess I will just have to pick up a new kit from somewhere.

Misreading of Karl's pictures is leading to some overly light blasters. Use the greycards and don't reference color off flash pictures. ;)

Pulseriflefan--nice work shifting things around. It's a shame the grip on all the current blasters is too small.

Well, that's one of the things I think is interesting about it, how different people filter the images to create thier own personal blaster. The whole issue of the triggers, revolver frame, and triggerguard being silver has been shot to hell. They were never silver, but the accepted color scheme, for so long now, has been so wrong.

I really find that fascinating.

I've only been looking at Blade Runner since those WonderCon photos were posted and can't understand why it took for those photos to be posted before people understood such things as the colour and what leds were present when the DVD shows us a lot.

Most of the caps that were available were not very clear leading to a lot of speculation. I believe that the cap above is from one of the HD transfers. :confused

Well, I can imagine having seen the wondercon gun first, what's all the fuss about right?

The whole reason Karl's photos were such a bombshell is because previous to that there just wasn't any really clear photos to be seen. That thread and those pictures were one of the biggest deals in our fun little prop circle for a very good reason.

In the film caps, and the film, the gun is nearly always moving or out of focus, and the details just were not there. The production photos don't ever really show a completely clean image of the gun either. Not like you find with the Aliens Pulse Rifle, for example, they took some very good production photos of those props.

Knowing the details ahead of time, as I have said before, makes a big difference in how you see it. When you watch the film you can see those details easier if you know them ahead of time, but if you don't you cannot be sure what's there.

Being one of the many who squinted and strained to find the details previous to Karl's pics, you really can' be sure if you're seeing. You question: Is it a highlight or a switch? Yeah, the bolt action portions look black enough, while the triggers look silver enough, things like that.

I'm sorry I'm getting off topic here . . .

I know that the colors on PRF's blaster may not be correct, but I still like it.

John definately did do that long before the Worldcon photos... it is funny, there were a few of us out there who believed that the blaster was two toned, but have been called crazy because of that belief. It is also funny that when asked why like minded people thought that the blaster was two toned, that pic that was just posted was referenced. Seemed pretty clear to me, but I remember countless times being told it was a lighting issue. :rolleyes I am really happy that question and several others have been answered with the release of those photos.

I really like your buildup there. One of the really nice additions you have made is the function of the probe piece attached to the bolt. VERY nice. I think that is the first time I have seen that done on a replica. It actually replicates the function of the actual Hero piece.

Bryan

yes, plus the whole bulldog gripframe, side covers, buttplate etc. Just small parts are made of metal (guard, trigger, bolt handle etc.)

It would be very interesting how the color of my real Steyr receiver will turning.
I think I have to do longer grips on it too.

hmm, the receiver looks brighter on the images as it is but I think you`re right.
Maybe go back to Humbrol gun metal there which is much darker.

So I have to repaint the receiver at the weekend - anything else to do ?

Yes Bryan we were quite a few. You can count me in in one of the group. Since the long archived thread regarding the Blade Runner Blaster (discussed back in 2001 I think) I presented captures, stills, pics and whatever and I knew and fought and discussed to show everyone the Steyr receiver was crude steel, the bulldog, triggers and triggerguard washed steel, the gripframe black, as black were the side covers and Steyr clip. Yes and the flat part of the buttplate was black and sides polished alu or light steel (rememeber that long discussion?).

No one really took notice of the steel colors untill the World Con pics. At least no one that made a replica and pictured it here.

But I guess time puts everything on its place.

Black bottom and no dimple. Huzzah. That was a great thread, except for the part where 'authority' interfered with truth. ;)

But do you really mean 'crude steel' for the Steyr receiver? It's much darker than the grip frame and triggerguard.

Yes the gripframe... I'm not yet convinced that is made of steel... or at least the same kind of steel as the Steyr and Bulldog parts. It looks like alun, but again it's hard to tell... I guess the other option would be stainless steel.

Checking Karl's pics again (thanks again Karl) I see a very simmilar shade of grey for barrel, Steyr receiver, Bulldog, triggers and triggerguard. Don't you?

Love it. The slight weathering looks very good, has the "bluing sanded off" look.

Nice. :thumbsup

Thank you :)

Do you think I have to use the same color for the bulldog frame or is it okay like it is now ?

Stephan

I think I'd probably repaint the parts. You've come this far, why not?

That said, I DO like the way it looks as is too. :D
