Models we'd like to have seen made

I'd love to see a Firefly-class transport, 16-18" long.
I'd love to see that as well, in styrene, but half that size would be just fine with me. Since that doesn't seem likely, I'm glad I got the resin Stargazer Models kit before they got hit with the C&D.

I was often puzzled by why they never released a Tantive IV (Blockade Runner) or the Sandcrawler kits. Those would have been awesome and have been completely overlooked as SW kits. I know there have been a couple of garage kits that have come out of these two but I they weren't very big at all. But I recently saw a Tantive at a pretty good scale as a garage kit. I'll see if I can find it again.

I would love a E.T. ship... that would be awesome especially if it came with a flashing lighting kit to go with it. I think this is available as a garage kit somewhere.

I agree... even thou that ship would be nice, I'm sure it would be a nightmare to handle. And I don't think it would look right unless it would light up, and the logistics of lighting it at a smaller scale would be a nightmare!

That's an interesting choice... but I'm not sure of the appeal of it. Wasn't much to look at really. I dunno.

Well, the reality proved to be more than my fantasy. I did some googling around after you mentioned the carage sets and found this website selling Tantive IV, the Sandcrawler and an upgrade to a Golden Armor's E.T. ship. I knew the Tantive had been offered at some point, but the others were a surprise. I'm glad I found these. :D

After the X plane, im going to do a firefox. For anyone interested in a possible kit.

That would be me! And about a thousand other people. Woo!

Not to mention half these japanese kits never get brought over in large numbers like Gundams and such so they go for more than a garage kit over here would cost.

Wes, I've mentioned it before...Hobbylink Japan, dude. Just: go there, buy, receive kit in mail a week later, do happy dance.

I'll second that. I've always received good service and pristine products from HobbyLink Japan, and their prices are usually very reasonable compared to other online vendors.

Ok.... here's the updated list of models we'd all like to see be made into full production for all of us:

1. Alexi Leonav from 2010
2. Johnny 5 from Short Circuit
3. Gunstar from The Last Starfighter
4. Project Crossbow from Real Genius
5. The Robot and the Zorgon Ship from Zathura
6. Chromed Naboo Ships from SW:Episode 1
7. Valley Forge and Heuy and Duey from Silent Running
8. Event Horizon ship
9. Whispercraft from 6th Day
10. Any of the craft from Minority Report
11. Blockade Runner from SW:Episode IV
12. Any ship or droid in the Star Wars movies that was on the screen for more then 3 seconds. (The rest of the pod racers, the speeders, the cars that Obi-wan and Anakin were in while chasing the bad guys on Corusant, the Probe Droid, the Diner Waitress bot, Sandcrawler, T-16 Skyhopper, full size versions of those stupid little snap together kits that were prepainted, the Trade Federation command ships, the list goes on and on)
13. The ships from Galaxy Quest
14. The classic Dune ships (All of them)
15. APC Robot and the flying bike from Judge Dredd
16. Stargate ships... Destiny, Atlantis, puddle jumper, all of them!
17. All the ships from Farscape... Moya #1
18. All the ships from Flash Gordon the Movie
19. The RLS Legacy from Treasure Planet
20. The Eagle 5 flying Winnebago from Spaceballs, and any of the other ships
21. The Axiom and a bunch of the robots from Wall-E would be cool to build
22. The NSEA Protector from Galaxy Quest
23. The Prawn Mothership from District 9
24. The Serenity from Firefly
25. All of the ships and vehicles from Avatar
26. the Andromeda Ascendant
27. The Locomotive time machine from BTTF3

I'll keep updating as more suggestions are made! :)

I just thought of something... remember a long time ago when they made the various tools that were lifesize from Star Trek? Like the Phaser, the Tricorder, and the communicator? I loved those... wish they would bring them back, but also include the newer stuff (all life size) with lights and sounds that can be built and played with. If someone came out with a whole line of phasers (all the different variations from the origanal series to the last movie... then... the same thing with the tricorders and communicators. Put some flashy lights and maybe a little circuit board with a couple of batteries... now those would be some cool kits to build and have! Then if they did the same thing with Star Wars tools the same way... blasters, commlinks, light saber hilts, etc... I think those would be awesome... but there's one condition... they would all have to be detailed. What do you all think? I don't think I've ever seen any kits made of Star Wars tools/accessories ever! We've all been stuck with the crappy Kenner toys that are big and builky and totally unrealistic. I think a realistic looking Solo Blaster kit that I have to put together myself, that was accurate to the movie would be a helluva lot more wanted then the toy that came out awhile back.

:eek Yum... but I feel like I've eaten too much candy.... :sick

The list is cool and all but. like some one said back on page 1 you guys might want to think about making your own models. Most of the stuff on the list is so obscure no one will ever produce it. Even GK guys wont attempt most because lets be honest for all the ( put me on the list) how many actually get purchased, and the GK is out of money for a kit that doesnt really sell.

And the reason for that is that video games have killed the model building hobby. Sure there are still a bunch of kits being made and cars and war vehicles are always going to be made. I just wish we could find a way to make the hobby cool again. Personally, I think if the kit makers would make studio scale models complete with lights (both flashing and steady on) it would make the kits alot more attractable.

I wouldn't say video games are solely responsible for the decline in model building as a hobby, but they were likely one of the first causes. The fact is that kids and teens have a wide range of ways to occupy their spare time these days, many of which didn't exist when guys like me started building models in the 60s--the aforementioned video games, computers and the Internet, cell phones and other electronic devices, cable/satellite television, etc., etc., etc..

Also, in my opinion, there's the "instant gratification" factor. Kids, teens, young adults, and even some older adults don't want to spend the time it takes to learn how to do...well, just about anything. If they can't have it "right now" they don't want anything to do with it. A few years ago I was on a "collectibles" forum where the members were complaining about having to apply stickers themselves to whatever pre-built toy they'd purchased. And on another forum related to Star Wars props, people were complaining about how long it takes for paint to dry. :confused If we tried to describe to them how much time and effort it takes to build even a relatively simple model kit from start to finish, I'm quite sure their heads would explode.

Back to the main topic, another kit I'd really like to see produced would be a 1974 Dodge Monaco (a.k.a. the Bluesmobile) in styrene, preferably 1/25 scale.

I disagree completely. The reason I found this form in the first place was because I was looking for a model kit of the Normandy from Mass Effect.
Which I would also still like to see along with the other ships from that series.

I was looking at the Prequels Chronicles book the other day and one ship that you barely see is the Republic Gunboat (not to be confused with the gunship): High-Altitude Entry Transport-221 - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki I think the only time it's seen is flying in the background while the Clonetroopers are fighting on Utapau and then when they are searching for Obi Wan after Order 66. I'd try and build it, but those curves are beyond my scratchbuilding ability right now.

I am really surprised they didn't come out with the whole line of those Podracers from Ep1. I woiuld have loved to make a diorama of Anakin and Zebulba racing!

Never thought I'd see a kit but still thinking about scratch-building Journey's Scarab Ship from their album covers.

Oddly enough I just saw that artwork in an old 1980s Atari game catalog. They must have bought the rights to use on the game.
