Mockle's Templar 40K Space Marine

Re: Templar 40K Space Marine 7' Full Size WIP

Love the skull. Where did you get that?

All the other skulls I've seen available are all lame looking.

Yes you are right there are lame ones I happen to find this one here that is a Halloween prop. its smaller then what I wanted so im going for it will adjust later if needed.. thanks :)

I like the addition of the skull!

How's the hand coming along?

Thanks Grim.. hand is waiting on a few parts I hope to finish up this weekend.. will be previewing the SFX walk this weekend :D

Bought from where?

check ebay they are all over there..

That skull looks a bit too Chaos-y for a Black Templar, IMHO. I can't think of any Imperial iconography involving a human skull that goes beyond making its eyes a bit more menacing (or the Ad Mech additions).

Re: Templar 40K Space Marine 7' Full Size WIP

Like I said, all the Imperial ones are based on a human skull, although slightly stylized. What you currently has gnarly sharp teeth sticking out everywhere. I'm not sure how into the 40k universe you are, or how much exposure to the fluff and GW art, so you may just have to take my word on it. The more grotesque and debased the skull design, the less Imperial it seems.

I hope you realize I was talking about the powerfist parts (considering that's what you were referring to in the post I quoted) and not the skulls. I checked ebay and couldn't find any "powerfist kits" so to speak.

Also, posting all those pictures did not at all relate to what he told you... The skulls in the pictures you posted are all very HUMAN and not demonic in any way, unlike yours.

Hey Bummer6, If you check Sylgian's build, his website offers the powerfist "files" for $30. You need a 3d printer though. He will also make you a powerfist for a bit more cash. :D Check him out.

i think people should be able to use whatever parts they like. My SM isn't going to be textbook either. People use what they have available, or whatever catches their eye. In personal builds like this, it's all about artistic freedom and expression. If he wanted to use the Jack Skellington skull, he could do that (but the fallout from the controversy might be too heavy).

Re: Templar 40K Space Marine 7' Full Size WIP

Love all the input I love the skulls and yes it wont be text book I don't want mine looking the same as the next guy I may color out of the lines, but I want my own look, and yet keep it a SM.

Im cool with it Im not so into it, but follow basic things I am a skull guy I could file down the teeth but I like it..

Re: Templar 40K Space Marine 7' Full Size WIP

Well, I have one of the legs put together. Devised my own attachment to connect the thigh and the shin together. I think it's going to work! Still needs a bit of support.

I'm running into some printing issues with the knuckles. Seems whenever I start printing, especially when I increased the scale, I run into problems. I'm going to try one piece at a time and see if that makes a difference.

Have you connected the fingers with the elastic and string? If you haven't, could you take lots of pictures? I am having a hard time seeing how it was done from the photos Sylgian posted.

anyhow, keep up the great work!

my scrolls will be similar to the ones hanging on this knights belt. 3/4" PVC with caps on both ends, a purity seal in the center thermoformed around the middle. I'll paint the tubes a yellowish white and decorate it.

ive got fans and a cooling vest planned for mine. Still printing away on the fingers!!

id be interested in hearing your idea for the scrolls.

Re: Templar 40K Space Marine 7' Full Size WIP

Honestly, I went the PVC pipe/fittings route years ago with some of my first =][= stuff, and in all honestly, it looks terrible in person.

Re: Templar 40K Space Marine 7' Full Size WIP

Hmm.. well, what did you use instead?
