Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man costume (SUIT IS SEWN) 1 week challenge

Re: Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man costume (MUSCLE SUIT UPDATE PIX) 1 week challen

Silly question but are those the crotch or butt pads? I googled it and there are couple options. Don't wanna get wrong ones as they do great job on the bicep area.
Lol sorry I left that out. They're the butt pads.
If your printer works in CMYK it could just be the difference in the Blacks. Even if all the blacks look different in RGB, if the black levels are the same once converted to CMYK, that will flatten it.

It could also be that the printer doesn't have much range in the darker shades. So, if there wasn't enough contrast between the high and low tones, it might just appear to be flat.

...ORRRRR maybe your printer left off those layers. (If he had access to the PSDs)

Anyhoo, looking great, man! Can't wait to see this puppy all sewn up.

Thanks Nick! I'm with the seamstress right now and we are aabout to get started ssewing this up.

actually before taylor graced me with this pattern i was thinking of getting a zentai suit and somehow getting the red parts all done in urethane, but didn't have the resources lol. this is gonna come out sick though, i know. eeeeeven though i made a mistake and cut the fingers before the seamstress got to it :lol so now i think i'm just going to have her sew up to the wrist and then use fabric glue, or witch stitching to do the fingers since it will bunch up in a sewing machine lol

i have no idea what that is, but i'm always up for a challenge lol

Re: Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man costume (PATTERN GETTING SEWN!!) 1 week challen

hey guys, does anyone have any back and side pictures of their hood? we're trying to figure out how the sides and backs of the hood connect, the webbing's a little weird in that area and i can't find any reference pix. also, is there any way to make the hood removeable? it's spandex and stretches , so should i just cut in the middle of the neck and stretch the bottom of the mask down to cover, or what? i realized i'm gonna have to be showing id..and partaking in drinks this weekend lol. i'm thinking i should have added an extra mask piece, but just need some ideas. thanks in advance!

Re: Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man costume (PATTERN GETTING SEWN!!) 1 week challen

Is that one of Taylor McManus's prints?

Re: Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man costume (PATTERN GETTING SEWN!!) 1 week challen

If you can wait until around 8PM when I get home from work, I can send you a great mask reference shot.

And generally you should print a second set of mask parts for a removable mask so you can choose how much the neck overlaps. If you just cut it your neck will most likely show through.

But for a party, no one should notice. :p

Frozone, from the incredibles. You look to have the long proportions for it.

yes, yes it is. we've been in an unofficial pm collaboration with this for a minute now lol. it started when i asked if anyone had thought of making the suit, and then he started the pattern, then i basically scavenged the earth to find a back reference shot, and then he finished it, now i'm executing it. lol. this may very well be the fastest spiderman suit made.

yes!! that would be awesome, i just came across a video so i think i have it now. what i'm going to do is just see how tight the suit fits on my neck when it's completed , and if there's some bunching, then i'll cut, hem and make the mask removeable. if not, then , well, i'll just figure something out lol

Re: Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man costume (PATTERN GETTING SEWN!!) 1 week challen

hey rich.... what about thin vertical strips of velcro that follow the webbing on the neck to hold the mask in place if you so decide to make it removable. that way its less notable and way more comfortable. lol jus sayin.

you totally took the thought out of my mind. i know you're not supposed to use velcro on spandex because of the barbed side snagging ,but meh ,it's just a fun costume, and i'm going to need to drink, so i think i'm gonna do that

nick, words cannot express how amazing you are lol thanks so much! i'm going over there to guide her and get this finished tonight!

Re: Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man costume (PATTERN GETTING SEWN!!) 1 week challen

sooo the costume is still getting sewn together but should be done by tonight, (the seamstress had some sewing machine issues), soooo while that's happening i decided to make the frames. i had to hand draw these since there were no templates for this style of frame, what do you guys think?

IMAG1103.jpg

these were just done with a sheet of foam i got for $.89 at michael's. i think they came out pretty decent for my first attempt. and if the red isn't deep enough i think i'm going to paint them. we'll see. also i got some white fabric today that i'm going to use for the actual eye itself.
