I started with the faceplate, then glued the jaw on, and built my way to the back.

Sure thing, here you go :)

I used the 5mm cardboard for probably 90% of the helmet. In some areas I doubled up pieces to add extra thickness to the parts (see the last photo). In some cases where I just needed to fill in gaps (like the the curves in the top of the sides), I used the 2mm thick cardboard.

Re: MF's Silver Centurion and Mk 42 Pepakura Files (V2 Centurion Finished)

And your helmet definitely didn't go down hill, I think you just forgot to put in these pieces on the sides! :)

thanks for the pics man, gives me something to compare it too. and thanks for saying it didn't go downhill, but i wasn't happy with it. my fault i was experimenting with 3 different types of cardboard to see how they acted to being bent and curved.

lol, yes I have thought about making that suit! The problem is that arm would take up a lot of space, haha

Very clean work man! I'm very eager to see a finished product of this. However, I couldn't help but notice you have the eyebrow ridge attached upside down! Haha Just be sure to check for that if you scale up the file and make a new one :)

:facepalm I knew something was off about that, haha. I'm debating whether to make a scaled up one, or just to keep this one, resin the outside and inside but skip the fiberglass step. The cardboard is already fairly sturdy by itself so it should hold up for bondo with just resin. I'll also probably have this in display mode 90% of the time anyway, so it shouldn't endure much wear and tear.

Here is my finished Helmet. Pained it with the Mk 30 Paintjob.

Re: MF's Silver Centurion and Mk 42 Pepakura Files (V2 Centurion Finished)

So... I've been a bit lazy about posting my progress, but I have just about finished building my first helmet. I made some mistakes with some of the angle cuts (see photos), so this is going to be my test helmet. After I put in the last couple pieces, I am going to try out some of the Smooth-on Epsilon stuff I have.

I think I am going to build one entire suit first out of foam (and possibly using that Epsilon stuff). Then I will build a test harness, convert that first foam suit to fit the harness, then after all that build the final harness/suit.

Really great stuff you've got going on, guys!

Aweseome! It's great to see the less popular suits being made!

Also, I know I said I probably wouldn't be making any more files.... But is anyone interested in the Mark 45 helmet?

This isn't entirely accurate though. The only available photos are from perspective shots so I had to mess around in Photoshop to get it looking more like an orthographic view:

Once the movie is released and more widely available photos are out, I'll alter this file to make it more accurate. Hopefully I can get this one done with a few days so people can make a quick foam build for the premier!

Re: MF's Mk 33 - Silver Centurion and Mk 42 Pepakura Files (Mk 45 Started)

Really looking forward to the mk 45 files.

Re: MF's Silver Centurion and Mk 42 Pepakura Files (V2 Centurion Finished)

I am too excited for that MK 45 helmet, I will definitely pause the MK 31 build to get it done, at least the carboard stage. And of course I'll do the foam unfold as well!

Re: MF's Mk 33 - Silver Centurion and Mk 42 Pepakura Files (Mk 45 Started)

Alright the Mark 45 Helmet is done! But please, please note that this is not 100% accurate and probably not anywhere even near that. There are barely any reference photos available, so I had to use the few that were available. For detailing this, please look at KadzaNeon's thread HERE. iNSPIRATION posted some great photos so take a look at those. I will make a new version once more photos become available, but until then: Good luck and happy building! Link on the first page!

Re: MF's Mk 33 - Silver Centurion and Mk 42 Pepakura Files (Mk 45 Started)

I was almost done the unfold and pepakura crashed! :angry The second unfold went fast as I remembered what I had done before, so there is that...

Anyway here it is! I changed up the colours a bit, 'cause, well, why the hell not? :lol

Also, pepakura designer's newest update has a grouping feature, which makes unfolding a lot easier as you can move/rotate one part and the ones you group with it go too, really nice.
