that fake money is fairly compicated for movie of that period. Seems like someone actually had a passion for their part of the film.

TK-Fett, the film has excellent production value ... um ... by which, I mean, all facets of it's production were done with great skill and care.

Metropolis money printing tips:

Paper: I suggest something like an off-white, fancy, resume paper, perhaps with cotton content. If you're careful when you're laying out the bills for printing, you can 'stack' three of the same bill on top of each other, on the same piece of paper and maximize your paper use. You'd probably want to add some guide marks for cutting them out, too.

I don't know exactly how large the bills should be.

I'll post a reference pic in a minute.

They should probably be about half that size, though. :)

I was looking at the flikr pic that Patric posted and they do look to be pretty big. Also are they supposed to have a border around them or simply trim at the colored edge?

Thanks

Richie

When printed they look to be about that size. I trimme dthe border away. The ones pictured on flik do appear to be on foam board. Wish we knew someone who could get correct dimensions.

BTW. Thanks for the help. I appreciate your work on these. I will add them to my Metropolis display proudly.

Thanks

Richie

I scaled the drawing accepting that the magazine in the corner was standard 8 inch wide and came up with a bill size of.....

3.5 by 8.5 inches.

Which would seem to fit the other pictures I have seen.

Before scaling I made my bills 3 by 7.38 inches. So I was a bit on the small size and not the right proportions. I am going to rework mine to the scaled size now.

Hope this helps.

O.k. so I think by now everyone knows what the front of the Metropolis money looks like, but what about the back? That and by the look of the newly released footage, the money apeared to be very large. I was only able to see it once on (AMC?), anyways do the dimensions apear to be correct to the new footage?

I'm inclined to say the backs are identical to the fronts - I've never seen anything that appeared to be a 'back' design.

As far as size goes, yeah, I just saw the new release couple of weeks ago - I recall thinking that the money was huge!

Also shown in the new release is the advertising flyer for Yoshiwara - perhaps a new subject of replication?

Yea, I forgot about the Yoshiwara flyer! I would think it would be alot harder to clean up, since the new footage is not as clear. Anyone want to prove me wrong!! Wink, Wink, Nudge, Hint........

Here is a few scene's with the Tallman and his money. Notice the size!

I'm not for sure if this was supposed to be an I.D., or if it was a blank check?

The Tallman claims that he will return in 3 hours, so I don't know for sure if he was bribeing him, or threating him. Maybe a little bit of both!
Either way this is one of the few scene's showing the money, which appears to be much larger than what has been thought to be. Not sure what! but bigger!
