Mesh for spider-man lense?

I used metal mesh and put plastic over it. Then I put tint behind it to help with the sun. All credit goes to Spidersparrow.

Looks perfect. Same mesh I used on my suit. Only downfall with steel mesh is sunlight can be blinding at times!

Did you double layer it? Cause I herd some people talking about that, I'm planing on airbrushing 3 coats of white on it that's why.

Great thread, because I'm looking for the right type of mesh too. I already ordered a Power Mesh fabric from Joann Fabrics, but I've also been toying with the idea of ordering a super fine mesh of woven steel. I've found this company online, and I think I will be ordering some of their materials.

I wasn't sure which way to go - wire mesh or fabric mesh - so it's trial and error.

Hey thanks for the link! Yeah I'm gonna buy a sheet of mesh and just airbrush it I just don't know the differences between the numbers and if it changes the thickness of the sheet (visibility) so I'm just to figure that out first before I order it, I'm thinking of just sticking with 100, but again I'm not sure what's the real differences, and it goes up to 500 :-\

I looked at the "open area" percentage. The #165 mesh boasts an open area of 45.6%, so that was what I went with. I also have the Power Mesh fabric coming from Joann Fabric, to see which way is better. I wasn't sure if Pandatrooper used a fabric mesh or a steel mesh.

the way the Number works for Mesh is, the Higher the number, the Tighter the mesh is opening wise. you're using mesh thats used for screen printing, so higher numbers, are used for finer prints and lines.

The Visibility should be fine all the way up to 300 id imagine, just a word of warning , that mesh is fragile, it literally is tons of tiny threads making up mesh literally the number is the number of threats in a 1x1 inch area.

keep that in mind.

Thanks, honnziva! I checked the numbers, and like I replied to Jamesdruffin, I went with the opening area percentage. The #165 gave the highest opening percentage of about 40%. My only question is how do you keep the holes from getting clogged with paint when airbrushing?

All great stuff thanks guys I'm gonna be ordering my mesh really soon, I'm trying to get that super white look like spidey4fun or Pandatrooper. So I hope this works out alright

I have Spidey4fun suit and this looks close to what he uses, visibilty is pretty good,
but in the sunlight there's alot of glare, not sure what to do about it, I tried painting back side black didn't help much, I like that it's breathable, no worries of foging, I have no plastic cover over it, it's very comfortable keeps me cooler.

Huge help!!!! Thanks only thing is the mesh thin? Or not really?

So, when painting the mesh, does it have to be with an airbrush? Or can we use just regular spray paint? I don't have an airbrush, and I just priced them at the local craft store. Kind of pricey for me right now...especially if I'm simply using it to paint my lenses and that's it. Any thoughts on this?
