Mentalist, The

Hi caplan i understand you don't want anyone stealing your work but you are posting in a FREE paper prop forum that is not intended for anyone to hold back there work.We make sections of movies like this "Mentalist" section for other members to grab free paper props when browsing.I Myself don't come in here to just view a progress thread unless there's a finished product for everyone on the boards. If you wanted help from other members with your ID then it should not of went in this forum unless you were gonna share the ID.This thread to me is nothing but a progress thread and honestly a waste of time and thread space for this section.Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Pitbull

you are right on certains points but find you normal that persons take a job of certains members to make sale on Ebay? as for the id card Prisoner 2010 of Coz it's not correct for the guy.

please only the discution by PM thank you by advance

Caplan.

Caplan,

In my opinion, you are clearly WITHIN the rules and guidelines. Here is the descriptor for the Paper Props section:

"PAPER PROPS
Research, discuss and share information about paper based replica props from movies, television shows and other media or showcase your original designs and collection.
Please do not sell replicas found in this forum."

There is nothing here or in the Paper Props guidelines for posting that compels a member to post 1:1 images or scans of their work or something they've acquired, free or otherwise. You just can not sell anything derived from here. I, personally, appreciate pics of paper props even if they are not in a format, resolution or size that makes them reproducible.

It's understandable that you may have bought a paper prop and to protect the source from digital "recasting" not put up a 1:1 image. Some people actually sell paper props with a condition that they not be posted in a reproducible form. So, please continue to post pictures, etc. of your growing collection.

You are certainly "sharing information" which seems fine. :thumbsup

This forum is dedicated to the discussion and sharing of free paper props.

Please follow these guidelines.

1) Each movie/TV show/VG will have only one thread that will contain all of it's paper props.

2) Use the movie/TV show/VG title that is listed in the Internet Movie Database. www.imdb.com

3) If the title begins with "The" start the title with the next word and place ", The" at the end. ("The Dark Knight" would be "Dark Knight, The").

4) In the case of remakes/re-imagining with identical titles, using the year for movies and TOS for TV shows will be the preferred method to distinguish one from another. (Batman 1989, Battlestar Galactica: TOS)

5) When posting a paper prop, please be as descriptive as possible so that it will be easy to find via the search feature.

6) PLEASE SEARCH BEFORE CREATING A NEW THREAD. You can sort the threads alphabetically by title using the "Display Options" located in the lower left of the Paper Props main screen.

7) PLEASE SEARCH BEFORE CREATING A POST ASKING FOR A PARTICULAR PAPER PROP.

8) These paper props are being offered by the membership to the membership for free. It is now a violation of the MGL to attempt to sell any of these items.

The MGL has been amended to reflect this rule. Please review the changes under Selling/trading of recast items"

Thank you, and enjoy the new forum!

If caplan don't want to share his work than fine whatever but this is a section created for sharing free paper props that's all I'm saying. If you go into every forum in this section you will see board members sharing there hard work with other members including myself. This is my last post in this thread as I already messaged caplan about it.

Pitbull, Sorry if I came across as contradicting you. My apologies if I did. I know Caplan and I believe English is not his primary lanquage so I was trying to clarify to him that he was not compelled to post work that someone else did and was selling. In the case of his Mentalist cards, I believe he got them from someone I know who creates and sells cards.

I do believe, however, that the Paper Prop threads can be used for research, sharing pics with the ultimate goal of producing a free, shared 1:1 prop. Based on that, if something can't be 1:1 shared due to intellectual property rights, work done/sold by others, it still may have value to us in trying to recreate a sharable version.

Sorry if I came across as smarmy.

Hi Eltee

not worked by other props-maker.

thanks again

best

caplan.

Here is my Mentalist set. I helped with the text on the back of the ID card using actual codes, etc. from real IDs but the cards are not my creation so I cannot share a 1:1 version. The badge is as close as I can get, but it is not too far off.

I'm sorry it's just the front side, but I couldn't find any good screenshots of the back side.
