Not sure where this goes but does anyone have the Mcfarlane Halo Reach Warthog?
I just got one from Target and it's really nice! I'll repaint it to make it look better but it's a great platform.

Why do they call it a warthog?
It looks more like a Puma. It should be called a Puma.

Somewhere I've seen a tutorial on how to gut the somewhat-crappy RC version and put it inside this awesome version. I'll post it if I find it.

I found this... which isn't a tutorial but more of a showoff.

Unfortunately I can't find the tutorial and this page doesn't seem to have any contact info for the creator.

I got one when they first came out. A few folks on the figure site have added working lights and one kid motorized the minigun as well with all running on a 9v.

I figured you would find Jin's warthog. He posts his stuff on the figure site all the time.

During my tenure at McF there were a some guys in my department who referred to it as the "Puma". I am surprised they even made them in this scale. They were reluctant to make mongoose and it was a smaller vehicle.

I got the one at GameStop for christmas... kinda crummy. Low detail, R/C bites.

Might pick this one and drop it onto a 1/10 RC chassis. 4 channel and a moving turret sounds fun!

They have a Ghost out too. It's only a bit smaller and about 10.00 cheaper. I'm not a fan of McF toys but the reach figures sure are a step about the new Kai line Playarts has put out with the crappy quality.

The actual figures are painted so bad! They almost look like they gave a bunch of 1st graders the chore of painting them,

I might get one and repaint it. The Warthog is beautifully done though!
I found some pics of the sculpts.

I wish they'd just have articulated the Reach statue you got with the massive collector's edition as they were really nicely done.

This warthog/puma is from the vehicle series one and not the larger one from the original post. I did some work on it. One thing in particular comes to mind in that the base you see in the picture is a semi transparent 3D printed part that I had to fix since it came out of the printer warped for some reason. If you look at the steering wheel you can see it is also a part directlt from the printer. You can also see the tan areas which are "Azbro" wax(made from the Hasbro recipe).

This is one of maybe two figures that I did no work on. The elbow and head spines were styrene rod that had to be individually cut and placed for this prototype.

Here is the the original smg master pattern I worked on for the rookie/ODST. The guns for the rookie toys were made from this. (Info on the paperwork isn't showing so no confidentiality is lost.)

I'll admit that I have played with these in the toys aisle. lol The warthog looks pretty cool, IMO. Like you said, just needs a repaint.

Turns out that SMG prop i got off here was made right lol. I've seen like 4 versions of the smg and they're all different so i wasn't sure. I only have my warthog and a random reach spartan left. I am thinking of modding the warthog as a gift to my friend who is nuts about the games.

There's actually 2 different paint decos on this toy, too. Saw some in Toys "R" Us the other day. Some look like the "clean" version above, and some have simulated mud on the tires and possibly other areas, creating a "dirty" version. :cool
