Master Replicas

I decided to check out what Master Replicas had up their sleeves just a few minutes ago,and guess what happened,Theres a screen that says Factory Replicas Coming Soon.

Whats this all about?

So they're Bankrupt and can't make anymore replicas? So that makes my MR lightsabers Limited?

they've been taken over by another company, MR lost the star wars licence but no doubt the new company will get it back again (unless someone beats them to it). i know its hasbro that are making the fx sabers now though, so maybe they have all the rights now?!

That license is not going back to MR or FR or whatever they are now. EFX has the license and Hasbro is making the FX Sabers.

With the exception of the FX sabers, eFX has most of the Star Wars license rights that were owned by Master Replicas. eFx was started by several people that used to work for Master Replicas before it was bought out.

Reminds me of the "Master Replicas - Belly Up Intervention Contest - Fabulous Prizes!" Thread in the OT Forum :rolleyes Question is when or if at all MRs death will be declared officially ...

eFX also has the Disney license and the Muppet license. They showed some great products at Comic Con this year for all the licences including Star Wars.

The stuff is in good hands.

Every product in the world is limited it's just a question of the amount made, and MR lost the license ages ago anyway to make SW products so them going totally out of business makes no difference.

To answer your question, ‘what’s this all about?’

Factory Entertainment purchased the Master Replicas brand name IP and trademark in may of 2009. Why?

Because Factory is made up of ex-employees and enthusiasts who loved what the MR brand name meant and what it initially represented when the company was first formed, by the original founders… before the dark times, before the Empire. (We promise that is the only corny and shameless Star Wars quote)

By owning the IP we can at least try and ensure that this faded old star can enjoy a healthy and dignified retirement that aims to pay some respect to its legacy. Granted that legacy of late was a bloated hideous corpse, but in its day it was a beauty and the fine work of all the people involved (you know who you are) both on the production side and the customers who supported the company with their patronage should be remembered fondly.

Master Replicas LLC/ Corgi International et al are out of the replica and collectibles business. RIP (queue short pause for sombre reflection or shouting Hallelujah and dancing on graves as you feel appropriate)

Factory Entertainment is a completely new company established and built by fans and enthusiasts that IS very much in the replica and collectibles business. We will release our prop replicas under the Factory Replicas brand name. The highest respect we can pay to the Master Replicas brand is not to simply slap it over a bunch of looks like products and try to be a wanna-be. We want to forge our own way, hence our own name. We have some great licenses signed and some more in the pipeline. We are working on some great products but until we have some nice images and some juicy facts to share we feel it best to say nothing. (The reasons for that need no explanation)

All we ask is allow us to release some products and then let us know what you think of them without preconception and without the stigma of ‘they are not Star Wars’. Star Wars replicas are in the capable hands of our good friends at eFx as are some other notable licenses that have become available ex-MR. eFx do a stunning job.

The retirement of the old MR is possibly best thing that could have happened, sure there was some blood spilt and a lot of hearts broken. We all have some nice battle scars and will doubtless need years of therapy. But in the end it helps the entire industry as it frees up licenses and injects new blood.

Here’s to the future! ‘haud magis ego haud magis culi!

Well, at least you are optimistic. Some would say that "A rose by any other name" would still apply. Best of luck though.

Here are a few suggestions.

Actually MAKE things.

Actually MAKE what is ADVERTISED.

Don't announce things until they are ready for SALE AND SHIPPING.

No pre-orders.

These may be unrealistic expectations in today's market but it's the only way my money goes out the door these days. Afterall these are just toys and not necessary expenditures.

You forgot the QC, since you are hammering it home, Mic. I was trying to be cordial, but your points are ALL good ones which kept my money in My hands and NOT the hands of MR. It's funny, we dislike people who sell vapor-ware here (for the most part), but it was a MR practice.

Ah well, if they learn from their past mistakes, things may go better.

Wow this is surprising to read. I have every MR Star Wars Blaster and simply adore them. I think they are amazing replicas. Alot of them are probably better than what was used on screen.

My only bone to pick was that the initial prices where always too high. But on ebay stuff could be had for as much as 50% off if one was patient and did not buy into the "limlited" status. In terms of Blasters there is not any other sources for a nice manufactured replica with a COA and a display case. I will always treasure my MR blasters.

eFX... showed some great products at Comic Con this year for all the licences... The stuff is in good hands.

Anybody got their "Ultimate Obi ANH" Replica (or whatever they're calling it) yet? Didn't they premiere it like a year ago? It seems like it.

I wish I had your confidence in them, but it just looks like more of the same to me. To many products and too many licenses to give any one of them the attention it deserves. The path to the dark side, it is.
