To all who pre ordered the Master Replicas Hal 9000;

My credit card company just refunded every penny of my money. It took some time, effort and diplomacy but I got it done. For those of you who used a credit card to make the purchase, give the fraud department a call and start negotiating with the. The sooner the better.
good luck to all.

Confirmed by the established communication pattern of no communication.. on 23July2020 Mr. Steve Dymszo and his Den of thieves have filed for protection.

Company Bankruptcy Information for Master Replicas Group ...
I bought a Luke Hero lightsaber from him a couple of years ago on Ebay before I read about all this.I hate thieves.Lightsaber was nice.I remember getting burned from "Toy Shop" ads.

I bought several MR items back in the day. I also made a trade with SteveD and purchased a item directly from him, right here on the market place. I can’t believe how many individuals have been taken! I have had similar problems with Anovos and after months of working with my bank I did get all my money back.

Steve has been doing this for 20 + years. It's his MO. Don't touch. You'll get burnt.
Wrong. 20 years ago Steve was reliable, dependable and celebrated. When he left MR things went south. Please do your research before posting misinformation.

It’s his MO now and that is what matters. He is no longer reliable, dependable or celebrated. Master Replicas not to be confused with Master Replicas Group when south 15 years ago and MRG was a complete money grab. If the shoe fits. Wear it.

People that bought into the HAL9000 mess got letters to file proof of claim on the bankruptcy, if anything recoverable comes from that. Painful, would have been a great product, even if it was not as smart as they were trying to make it. Sigh.

I was here 20 years ago mate and had dealing with Steve and he ****** me and a good few others over then on various pre orders etc. I see in the interim that manners have not improved much either.

Hmmm. That’s strange. You say you were here 20 years ago but your join date is January 10, 2016 where you can see that I joined in 2000.
Regardless, you are mistaken.

If anybody got screwed by Steve (except THIS guy) please speak up.
You see, anybody that was actually here 20 years ago will tell you that at that time Steve WAS a trusted and respected member...mate.

I'm pretty late to this topic so does anyone have a post they can redirect me to for context as to why they filed for bankruptcy and what made people hate them?

why they filed for bankruptcy ?

Because they said they owed more money than they had.
What made people hate them?

Because they took people's money without giving them anything in return.
And then, refused to give the money back.

Many people lost $100's or even $1000's of Dollars.
And those people have no hopes of being repaid at this point.

Mate I don't need too justify or qualify anything to you OK. I made a point about Steve D that's all. You've been here since the 2000's good on ya. I was here and I left and now I'm back. I'm not debating that with you and I don't give a fig if you dispute it or believe me or not. I'm a middle aged man who builds toys as a hobby. I like to think I've matured in the interim to the point where moronic flame wars don't interest me any more. Good luck to you Bro happy propping remember get some cardio in occasionally and cut down on the stress and keyboard wars. Now go forth and multiply.

People had a life before the RPF you know.......it's not because you're here for decades that you know better than some others.....

If you haven't had your email used by Steve's SD Studios in his new endeavor to sell items that should be under MRG chapter 7, he's offering to scam you again for a HAL but this time for triple the money or more. I'll just make my own...

Hello and welcome to the SD Studios FEBRUARY Mailing!

Welcome NEW list members!

I put even MORE super-cool, rare pieces up for sale this month! E-mail me for pics or more info. Payment can go to sdstudios@aol.com Payment plans are always available and negotiable. (pricing is generally…less-so). If you see something you want, let me know a payment schedule that works for you!

"MRG HAL 9000 prototype. This is the Chinese production prototype molded in glossy black ABS plastic with a brand-new, working NOOK tablet inside. (the original tablet was damaged in storage). It has NO markings, as these would have been added as the final step in production, along with the satin black finish. This includes the wall command console, the magnetic, removable HAL unit, the desk charger/stand and power cord. The removable HAL has a working Bluetooth system and the glass eye lights up. You can connect it to any BT capable device and it will play through HALs speaker! This is the unit that we took to many conventions to show that we WERE actually making these damn things and they WORKED! It responds to over 60 voice commands and displays about 45 different 2001 animated graphics. The control buttons are NOT operational, but I will throw in a set of disconnected electronics boards if you want to build the rest out. (I do not have the knowledge or skills to do this). I can even throw in a set of the pre-printed white dry-transfer labels if you want to paint and finish it off. I only have this ONE unit. NO idea what this is worth. I am thinking in the $3500 to $5000 neighborhood plus shipping. This is the only working production unit in the world. Cash/trades considered."

Stolen from the MRG customers who never saw the light of day on the project and now available direct to you from the trunk of the car. NO THANKS

I got that. I just replied back that I would take it off his hands as partial payment for what MRG owes me.

In the 90's SteveD bought a couple pieces I made that were scratch built. Years later he sold them and I had seen them posted on boards like the RPF by the new owners. The new owners were pleased and under the impression they owned scratch build "one-offs" made by SteveD himself and therefore a more valuable item because they thought he made it. I told the new owners I made the pieces and they didn't believe me(sure, I take credit for other peoples work. lol) I take photos of my work and when I presented the photos to these guys they were obviously disappointed. I guess SteveD was ambiguous during the sales as to the origins because in both situations these guys were firm believers that they had his work. After the case of the first item i contacted SteveD to discuss with him on how the first buyer was under the impression that he made the prop. I wanted to clarify if there was a misunderstanding or if he was taking credit for my work ...and he was dismissive as if he was too important to be bother with talking to me.

There was a time he was broke(I'm guessing) and i forget how I was on his mailing list of stuff he was selling over a few months time. Action figures and lower dollar items was what he was selling for the most part. I didn't mind being on his mailing list as i wanted to see if he was selling off any more of my old works.

My only other dealing with SteveD...
I bought a MR ST(TOS) P2 from a guy on ebay for over $1000. The emitter didn't extend and retract and the case was damaged(I found damage to the case was hidden in the photos after seeing it in person). The seller said he was a pal of SteveD and said mail the P2 to SteveD for repair since SteveD worked for MR. I sent it to SteveD as suggested and contacted PayPal who put a hold on the money. SteveD contacts me and tells me to take the "hold" off the money with paypal or he won't return the P2 to me when he is done repairing it. I told SteveD he wasn't involved in the sale, only the repair. SteveD came across pretty full of himself and browbeating and saying "what the hell" about my choice to contact PayPal when it was none of his business. I told him and the seller I wanted a refund and that I would inquire to see if SteveDs and the sellers demand constituted coercion. I got my refund.

In my first hand experience he comes across as dishonest and full of himself as if he is a diva movie or TV celebrity.

Hope everyone gets their money back.
