Master Replicas AT-AT, movable parts ?

I was hoping to create a diorama using Master Replicas AT-ATs. I have one, the sig addition. I was looking at it and it is difficult to tell if you can take it apart and change the position of the legs and head. I wanted to do three together, but obviosly I want them to be in different positions. I am still a novice and I dont want to get in over my head trying to rebuild one of these. Has any one explored this avenue ? All help is appreciated.

Awhile back there was a thread where a member took one apart and posted pix...do a search, the thread may still be around.

From what I remember, it was quite a task just to get it apart and he broke a few pieces in the process. I don't think that I would have the balls to try it on mine tho....

This is a STATIC model, people. NOTHING on this piece is meant to be movable except the head guns on the sides of the head. That's it. The legs are locked and the internal armature is meant to hold this pose.

Take it apart at your own risk - you will most likely break many pieces.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I might not want to mess with it. I missed out on some great builds that I could have worked with and posed. I am not the scratch builder that I would like to be. I guess I will have to wait for some one more talented than I am to do another build. I really do appreciate the info.

If I remeber correctly once you tookit apart it was designed so that the head could be repositioned. I do not think that the legs can be easily reposition but if you cast the legs up you could reverse engineer the joints for repositiong. Long and short of it is that you can probably move the head but the legs will be an issue.

It can be disassembled CAREFULLY. You'll destroy the paint finish so be prepared to repaint it all. The legs are modular, however there are injection molded pins that hold them into the pose as was designed. These pins would all have to be ground down to make the legs poseable. As for the hip plates to the body, they have MANY diecast pins and holes that keep their pose.

It's not impossible, but you need to approach it carefully. Mike Moore of HMS and I disassembled one to repose it for the signature edition so it is entirely doable. It just requires a LOT of care. Plus we has spare parts incase we screwed anything up. :)

Very intimidating. I have this phobia that I cant quite explain. I can buy an expensive model and I can go nuts with it. I have blown a few in my day and I am ok with that. I enjoy the process and I am happy while I am playing around. As a matter of fact I started building to relax. When I look at my master replicas products I want to mess with them but the prospect does not make me feel relaxed at all.
