Well, since the helmets were sculpted and not machined back then it couldn't have been made symmetrical, no matter how much they'd have tried - so it was certainly not intentional, but simply what was possible at the time.I know lots of you guys want a prop replica to be exactly the way the movie prop was vs. what the actual in universe item would be. I just wonder though whether Lucas intended the helmets to be asymmetrical or if that was a result of the vacuuforming and construction. If it wasn't how they were supposed to be I would vote symmetrical. I fall in the "in universe" crowd though.
