Hi!
My first post here and I wanted to show you my work on Magneto's new look! for reference this is the looks I went after:

Building this started in march pretty much when I got inspired by PunisherNC and his build which you can also find on this part of forum!

What costume looks so far

Costume still lacks cloak and some other details on the suit itself,.. so still some work to do with it, but already looks nice and I love it so I decided to write up the stuff I did so far and show it off a bit!

And below I will update some pictures of all I was doing. Pretty much everything was crafted with materials by me what you can see on the picture above, I had really small budget to work with so suit is also not digitally printed but painted by me. :D

So I started off with making my own helmet from the scratch with pepakura and then the usual epoxy, sanding, fixing errors and holes, more sanding and painting. :D
took quite a while btw, as this was my first time attempt at costume making.

And that pretty much was done for the helmet with some fixes it was finished.

Don't have much time at the moment to fully write all so I will update this thread when I update my progress in my blog as well in next days. You can also check up my blog for some additional images since I don't really want the forum to take ages to load all. : )

Going to update the post with some pictures of making the utility belt!

Boxes were made of cardboard box and glued in black velvet fabric, as you can see on third picture boxes can be opened and I can store some small things in like Id, cash etc.
that was achieved with touch fasteners, those were also sewn on the back and on the belt so boxes can be attached and detached.

Gonna get a better close up picture next time I wear the costume.

Basically the belt is made of polyester webbing and belt buckle was bought of eBay. like mentioned above, sewn touch fasteners on the polyester webbing and attach it to the buckle, and that was basically it.
Boxes itself took quite some time to make, due to all the drawing and cutting the cardboard boxes, later on it went faster when stuff had to be glued together!

Anyway next time I'll start with the suit and how I made the pattern on the lyrical suit. I couldn't afford a printed suit since budged was quite low so decided on alternative.

Before that I had to make a mannequin of me though so that's how that looked. :D

Not pretty on the eye, but served (still serving) its purpose.

Been a while since I've updated this, and now I have actually finished the whole suit so I'm going to write up the rest of my work in progress on the suit.

So this is how I did the suit textures:
img20141213132040.jpg

The taping took me quite long, but it had to be done properly so took my time there. But ya had to make a template of sort in which I can spray the paint on later on.
img20141213135712.jpgimg20141213143357.jpgimg20141213151236.jpgimg20141213154754.jpgimg20141214125035.jpg
Secure the black parts of the suit with news paper and getting read for paint.

img20141215124224.jpgimg20141216121251.jpg I can't exactly recall how many layers of paint I applied but, It was about 6. Used acrylic white spray
Had no issues with it so far on the suit, stays on normally.

And this was finished product! small white smudges left on black part, but that was easy to remove and clean. : )

It was very scary doing this tbh, cause If it wasn't a success Id lose the suit which I had to get sewn for my build, and Id waste some materials as well. But it came out really well I'd say.

Next thing I'm covering is shoulder and hand straps

Materials I've used for those are EVA foam, and Styrofoam (for the half spheres) glued together with hotgun and silicone.
img20141222111617.jpgimg20141222112305.jpg
cutting and fitting spheres on!
img20141222121239.jpgimg20141222161642.jpgimg20141222165001.jpgimg20141224132815.jpg
Hot gluing and painting!

img20141226171046.jpgimg20141226171234.jpgI attached both on the costume with silicone and hot gun, I was afraid It would get lose, but it actually holds together really good.

I actually don't have any images of cloak making process, but that was just a fabric cut out for the cloak shape.

Finally I've look like this:
img20150214215023-2.jpgWolverine there was also my work, what was to be done (claws belt, but ya jacket was bought).
