So, was anyone else lost in this episode? Who was this supposed Asgardian supposed to be and where did he come from?

I believe it was the power staff of rage episode, he was a professor in Spain I think.

At first I was thinking "That is Agent Coulson, have some respect!" and then got to thinking that they were showing that she is now his equal as a fellow agent.

Except he is the director. Fury is still in hiding.

I knew he looked familiar, but couldn't place him. I still don't buy that someone going by one name for 20 years would just up and change it to something else. Even if you were told that was your birth name.

The name change could also be another way of separating who she was before her change with who she is now - Skye was a human computer hacker, Daisy is an Inhuman.

Just got around to watching ep. 2. Another good one. I remembered the Asgardian professor so that was not a big deal for me. I agree that it seemed pretty simple to destroy the portal and get Fitz-Simmons back. They must have another story line that they will be pushing over the season. I thought for sure Simmons would be gone for the entire season only to be rescued in the finale.

Lots of flashbacks. Maybe she saw something important they need. She might also have learned something important about the inhumans. And of course they will want to figure out where she was.

Personally, I'm glad they didn't drag that storyline out, at least in the sense of "Will they get her back, and when/how?" I expect we'll get flashbacks to her survival on the alien planet, as well as seeing her all PTSD (and whatever else comes along). I do not expect it will be a fast road to recovery for her, but I do hope they can finally bring her and Fitz together, and KEEP them together. If there's one thing I hate in these kinds of shows, it's where they bring a couple together and then split them up because they need to increase the drama or because the writers can't figure out how to tell interesting stories outside of "will they/won't they" stories or "bitter exes" stories.

There have been a few "plot lines" on AoS that could have been huge but were cut off suddenly. Seems to be the mo for the writers on the show. Could have been as well an issue of whether or not the actress was coming back with a possible contract negotiation or some other factor as some times actor need to be written out for periods of time for professional/personal reasons.

Season finale last year when the Terigen fell to the bottom of the sea they did a montage that ended where the leaking canisters were infecting the fish that were caught and anyone that was taking fish oil caplets was going to either die or develop powers!

They explained in the first or second episode that the killer portion was somehow removed in the ocean.
