Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Some questions:

Is the Avengers base part of SHIELD? Or is the Avengers facility independent from SHIELD?

If Ward is supposedly the new leader of Hydra...what would Baron Zemo be in next year's Cpt America Civil War? Is Ward aware of Rum low becoming Crossbones?

The show caters to the movies, not the other way around

Which is unfortunate, it would be nice if the movies at least acknowledged the show like the show does the movies, just a line or two in passing about something major going on with SHIELD. Hopefully SHIELD will figure in with Cap. 3 and Civil War.

Not exactly. The show is driving the Inhumans plotline, which will form the basis for the Inhumans movie. It won't be as if you HAVE to watch the show to understand the movie, but it will probably make the film that much richer of an experience if you have.

Actually, when the Helicarrier shows up in AOU, Fury says he pulled it out of mothballs with the help of "some friends", and in the next episode of AOS we see that Coulson was keeping it safe and gave it to Fury. In the previous episode Coulson contacted Maria Hill and gave her Baron Stucker's location, which lead to the opening sequence in AOU.

Joss Whedon has gone on record saying that Coulson isn't coming back to the movie side of things, and the show is separate entity... It's a weird dynamic, because the show obviously plays off the movies, but we're likely never to get a show tie-in in any future movie.

The Avengers base is owned by Tony Stark, so it has no connection to SHIELD.

That's Joss Whedon's personal opinion, likely because he got overruled by Marvel on some things and is just trying to **** in everyone's cheerios. Even his own staff doesn't believe what he says about AoS.

I noticed Coulson doesn't seem to deploy/use Swat-like personnel the way Agent Gonzalez and Hydra did..

I just got the chance to watch the season opener. I liked it! It was a nice summary of last season while moving on. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us :)

Laters,
Jeff

So, was anyone else lost in this episode? Who was this supposed Asgardian supposed to be and where did he come from?

He was in one of the Lady Sif episodes of Season 1.

Yeah, I completely didn't remember ever seeing him before, and this confused the heck out of me.

Overall, now that the episode is over, I felt that the episode was way too rushed. If anything, this should have taken at least 2-3 more episodes, IMO.
