Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Coulson may not have had a choice, whether or not he signed something. This is SHIELD, they may have it stipulated that there are certain measures they are allowed to take for certain levels of agents. Sure, agents die everyday but there's a difference between cannon fodder and generals.

Then again, there's also something to be said for being one of the favorites.

I do think I would have preferred a different "fixer" method, but kind of glad there's no replica version, that it's still him.

Re: Avengers (tv series)

They already had an Avengers TV show.

So the one on the left is the martial artist which makes her Iron Fist.
That means the one on the right is a black man who grew up in Harlem... :wacko

A couple of things to keep in mind here:

1) SHIELD is not the US gov ... They operate with the approval of a UN-esque oversight committee, but are above any one countries authority. Meaning they can do whatever they deem necessary.

2) "Agent" is a lifetime contract supercedeing personal rights (much like military service but more extreme).

3) This was more than likely an experimental procedure making Coulsen an ideal test subject. Any morality issues are resolved in my first two points.

Did it ever state WTF they did?

All they showed was him in pain and a giant spider-surgeon-bot stimming the crap out of his brain to keep him conscious.

MY assumption was while that was going on they were looking for a donor hear or somehow fixing his. That part I never caught an explanation for.

They only vaguely hinted that they did bad stuff to resurrect him and they fiddled with his memories. Can't drag the plot line out if they wrap it up halfway through the first season.

What?

I mean, what?!

First there was the non-explanation regarding Coulson last week, and this week there was an even more anti-climatic explanation about Sky's parents.

What did we learn the last two weeks?

Shield did something to Coulson and Sky had something bad happen with her parents.

DUH!

I was really loving this show, but the last two episodes have crushed my interest. Why even have mysterious plots if you cant follow through?!

From the previews, it looks like a main character might die next week. If that episode isn't an improvement, it might be me who leaves the show.

I'm wondering if it's worth watching this show anymore. Outside of Coulson and the science twins, I have little interest in the characters... and what they do with the one's I do enjoy is just silly or annoying.

Not sure why people are expecting full disclosure and resolution to what seem to be major story arcs halfway through the first season. If this was Firefly (a one season show) then you'd have a point, maybe...but I don't see any of the big questions getting resolved anytime soon.

It's like the ADHD generation is infecting some of us who are old enough to know better. :facepalm

What!! I did not understand Sky's whole deal.. I wish they would of explained alittle bit more.. But I still did like the episode.

Quite simply put, they're dragging out the mystery of both Coulson and Skye and turning it into an story arc.

Coulson died and had been dead for days, but they brought him back. I've a feeling we only scratched the surface of what was done to him.

As to Skye, she's an alien space baby that has caused death, destruction, and an untold amount of loyalty from people that never knew her.

I'm certain they'll flesh it out later.

I don't mind story arcs. Who would? It makes a show more entertaining. Also, I wouldn't expect a full explanation in the middle of the season.

I just don't like the direction they are going, and how anti climactic each reveal is. Stories like this should make you more invested in a character. Instead, I just feel like they have repeatedly swung and missed. The more they tell of the story, the less interested I get. It should be the opposite.

I don't mind a little mystery in a show, but when the character finds out the truth, I think we as the audience should, too. When the music came up and drowned out Coulson's revelation to Skye, that irked me! So now everybody in the show knows about her, it's just the audience who doesn't know. I don't like that.

When Coulson finds out the full truth of what happened to him, it should be revealed to us, also.

I think the reason they did the music bit was because we already found out what happened during the course of Coulson and May's investigation (i.e. - she's an 084, an entire village and multiple SHIELD agents died to protect her, and SHIELD purposefully moved her around the foster system to keep her safe). Having a rehash of same information would only serve to distract the audience from Skye's reaction to that information, and at that point, her reaction was important story-wise.

Speaking of which, it's great to see Chloe Bennett opening up and becoming more and more human-like (I guess that's pretty meta considering the story) and less like a barbie doll caricature of a person.

We still haven't learned everything about her, though, such as who she really is, where she really comes from, and why she's so important that people wanted to get to her as an infant.

On another note, for the Marvel fans amongst us, did you catch the three name-drops?

I'm sure everyone caught Bucky Barnes' name.

Donnie Gill, the super-smart guy that survived the ice-storm, is better known as a member of Iron Man's rogue's gallery named Blizzard.

Also, the crack about "falling asleep in Doctor Vaughn's history class"? Possible allusion to Wendell Vaughn?

The thing is, if you don't intend to answer soon, you shouldn't be beating your audience over they head with it on a weekly basis. If you don't wanna answer Coulson's survival year 1, fine. I've got no problem. However, you shouldn't make reference to it in 20/22 of your first season shows. As much as the audiesnce should have patience, so too should the writers and producers and only drop hints/clues/refs every 3-4 weeks or something. Not 3-4 per show.

Seems they understand that with Skye. That or they just don't know where its' going so they leave it alone for a while til they figure out the next step.

Good writing can string the answers out by doing it in a series of steps that engrosses the viewer without baiting them multiple times a week. If they go that route, the complaining will stop. Plus, if you're not actually going to answer it, you flat out shouldn't promise answers in the previews for the coming weeks show. THAT will **** people off the most.
