Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It's a good thing this is on Tue. It would never survive if it was up against Arrow. This show has such potential to be great. It would be nice if they would steal one of their writers.

A 084 is just an object of unknown origin. They mentioned early, I think at the end of the first episode.

I'm wondering what species of alien, I want to say she might be a Skrull/Chitauri brainwashed to think she's human, but maybe they'll go a bit deeper into the Marvel U. I just hope they don't make something up entirely.

it would be cool if she turned out to be some sort of technopath. especially after the very specific mention a while back of no known telepaths. it would also be a great tool to use against this clairvoyant with cyber-eye agents

well, maybe they actually do introduce her as someone with superpowers, who isnt a major comic character, that doesnt deserve their own movie. i mean they allready introduced 2 villains, so why not?

I wouldn't mind that idea. But it would be cool if she was some type of alien...

Unknown origin and exhibited some type of power I think they said. Given the universe it's set in, could be a natural evolution ala the X-men.

You'd think, though, that if she exhibited a type of power as an infant that it would continue to manifest itself until she learned to control it. Doesn't seem likely you'd learn how to control it at age 1 or 2 and then continuously control it the next 20+ years to the point you forget you're controlling it.

The issue of what Sky actually is, alien or super-powered human, brings up an interesting question that also relates to The Avengers 2, are there mutants in the MCU? Think about it, so far we've only seen 3 types of super heroes/villains: there's the tech &/or training based like Iron Man, Nick Fury, Hawekeye; then there's the accident/created like the Hulk, & the Centipede super soldier, Capt. America; then there's the aliens ala the Asgardian but as of yet I don't think that we've seen a single mutant ie. a human born with super powers yet on either TAS or in the various Marvel movies. This relates to The Avengers 2 because it's been announced that they'll be including Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch who we know are the children of Magneto and are both mutants which makes me wonder if they're going to remain mutants or if mutants don't exist in the MCU and will mean a total rewrite of their origins. The question of mutants in the MCU affects Skye because if they don't it will mean that she's an alien, an experiment in creating super humans from a very young age, of possibly a super human by means of inheriting her powers from parents that had super powers by means of an accident or experiment.

the thing is, fox doesnt have the rights to "mutants" they have the rights to x-men, and their characters (and related), but share some licenses for characters that are both on avengers and x-men, which is why they can use quicksilver and scarlet witch.

so, as long as they dont use x-men characters, and just use the term mutants, for characters that are not actually x-men related characters, they can use it.
a prime example is allready on the shield show. or what do you think the clairvoyant is?

The reason why I brought up the question about mutants in the MCU is that I don't think that we've seen a single confirmed mutant yet, yes, there's the Clairvoyant but we don't know if he/she is a mutant or not, it's entirely possible that their clairvoyant powers were acquired either by accident or on purpose. If the Clairvoyant is a mutant he/she will be the first confirmed mutant in the MCU and, depending on their age, one of the oldest super powered being running around in the MCU since the existence of super powered beings seems to be a relatively new phenomena in the MCU.

Given that both Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch are supposed to be in Avengers 2, I think we'll see mutants. However, I doubt they'll be specifically stated to be Magneto's kids in this one.

Funny thing is that they are also supposed to be in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but portrayed by different actors.

I was wondering about that too. I have to preface this with I never read the comics, just what was in movies and tv shows. So I was kind of wondering why they keep saying there are no telepaths when they should know about Professor X.
