Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

My girlfriend pointed out the dialogue about "falling asleep, for a little while" is straight outta Joss Whedon's Dollhouse.

And Colsen's comment, "I love this jet" is from Firefly where Inara says, "I love this ship." when speaking about Serenity.

I for one am shocked, the episode had nothing to do with TDW beyond vague allusions so as to not necessitate watching the film. Utterly shocked.

Seriously though, cool to see more Asgardian stuff. It's nice to actually see the whole "it's a magical place" conspiracy starting to go somewhere rather than the heavy-handed spinning their wheels winks to something being up with Coulson. Interesting also that Coulson's acting like it'd be no big deal for him to talk to Thor despite the Avengers "knowing" him to be dead. Is he unaware of Fury's manipulation of the team, is it just not as big of a secret as we'd have assumed that Coulson's alive, or is he just being a little flippant?

My favorite part was being able to pause the show and read the posts on the message board. In the middle of all the angry posts was "I rode a horse today :)"

I also like that they are slowly unravelling what happened to Coulson.

Sent from my Etch A Sketch.

I would prefer they pick up the pace on unraveling what happened to Coulson.
I ended up watching this one since I saw a sneak peek of it and this one wasn't horrible. I liked it when Ward ripped into Skye and when May used the staff and it seemingly didn't phase her much.

So... she left the door open for Ward so they could bang it out or just get drunk together? I thought that was kind of cool but at the same time I foresee this becoming the hurt feelings club since it seems like the other two females have taken a liking to him. I could do without the soap drama on this kind of show.

Interesting choice of actors for the berserker warrior. LOL.

Do you have the Etch A Sketch 5S with the longer screen?

and when May used the staff and it seemingly didn't phase her much.

Remember that the staff brings up the darkest moments in a person's memories, the parts a person would repress or just not think about. Ward asked her how she wasn't affected as badly, and her reply was that she sees her darkest moment every day. One could take it to mean that May lives every second of her life thinking about that dark incident that drove her to voluntary desk duty and turned her into an ice queen, but here's something to ponder: What if the phrase "I see it every day" was far more literal than the writers are letting on?

What if that dark moment in May's past was the cold blooded assassination of the mother of a certain person (who she then dropped off at an orphanage) and the subsequent redaction of the incident by S.H.I.E.L.D.?

It would be terribly cliche, but it's a thought...

I think drinking would be the order of the day. I really don't see May having cheap meaningless sex with people, most definitely not with someone who is her subordinate (Yes, May is technically second in command due to her experience and time in service. Even Coulson is wary about giving her direct orders).

Curious what kind of heinous **** she saw or did.

I guess we'll see if they pick up where this episode left off with him walking out of her room the next morning and Skye exiting her room at the same time, seeing it and getting all non-talky for the rest of the episode.

I don't think the subordinate thing is going to keep Grant and Skye from hooking up. Although, she's not technically an agent of SHIELD, is she?

Well technically Skye is a consultant, but she has on numerous occasions had discussions about her becoming a SHIELD agent (most of them take place when she screws up). Plus, with Grant being her Supervising Officer, that would put them firmly into the fraternization category. I would liken it to the fraternization policies in the military. You're allowed to date whoever you want so long as they are not in your direct chain of command, as that causes a conflict of interest and an appearance of special treatment, even if there truly is none.

That's one of the things I loved about Stargate SG:1. No matter how much they wanted to and no matter how much the fans wanted them to, O'Neill and Carter were never an on-screen couple BECAUSE it was against military regulations.

Yeah... SG-1 was awesome like that.
Then you have ST-TNG, where Riker would bang anyone he could... and Worf would get slopppy seconds.

I thought it was out of character for her too, but that look on her face didn't look like a "come have a drink" look to me.

Also, some would say that fooling around with someone of higher rank would be a turn on.

Yeah... SG-1 was awesome like that.

It was one of the many reasons why SG-1 was endorsed and supported by the DoD and why they had two Chiefs of Staff of the Air Force and a Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force on the show... playing themselves.

Please, Riker was a wannabe Kirk, but without the charm.

It's really hard to tell with May. She's mastered the ice queen look. However, it seemed like a "we both need a really stiff drink" look to me. It certainly didn't seem like a "come hither" look.

"Higher rank" and "In your Chain of Command" are not the same thing.

A Lieutenant can be sleeping with a Major with no problems, unless they are within the same organization and the Major holds a position of authority over the Lieutenant. A good example is flying squadrons. If the Lieutenant and Major are assigned to the same squadron as pilots, it's not a problem. However, if the Major holds a position of authority such as Executive Officer, then it's an issue.

If it wasn't, she sure would have been in for a surprise when I entered the room.

Stop ruining my fantasies.

Higher rank does play a factor when it's enlisted and an officer wanting to get it on, while technically the rules of chain of command do apply between enlisted and officers generally speaking the military is a little reticent about officers having relationships with enlisted personnel. While not expressly forbidden the military doesn't really like officers and enlisted to mingle even if it's just getting together and having a beer together at your local bar, that's why they have O-clubs & E-clubs, can't have officers mingling with their social inferiors outside of official duties.
