Marvel Movie Rights and Future Marvel Movies

guys, guys, none of this is true

it cant be the iron patriot, as the only one ever piloting it was osborn. his rights are with sony.
The Rumors say that its the new war machine, but for continuity sakes, i just cant believe it.

my oppinion is, that its detroit steel:
Detroit Steel is a fictional suit of powered armor appearing in books published by Marvel Comics, usually as an adversary or rival to Iron Man. Created by writer Matt Fraction and artist Salvador Larocca, Detroit Steel first appeared in Iron Man (vol 5) #25 (June 2010) as part of the "Stark Resilient" storyline. Detroit Steel is the first in a line of armored soldiers called the Detroit Steelcorps, or simply the Steelcorps, which is marketed by Stark's corporate rival Hammer Industries. Principal characters in storylines that have worn the armor include Lt. Doug Johnson and Sasha Hammer. Individual soldiers wearing the Detroit Steel armor have been called Steelmechs or Hammermechs.

its the only logical conclusion

Iron Patriot explained

There's the article I was just reading and the best explanation yet that the armor was a painted up War Machine(hence the minigun on the shoulder). It couldn't be this Detriot Steel since it looks absolutely nothing like that armor.

it also looks nothing like war machine, if that is your point

the only thing it has is a minigun on the shoulder (which looks nothing like the war machine mini gun)
helmet, chest and arms look different.

Read the article, It's news from the set. That's the new War Machine armor with a paint job from the US Goverment. Apparently War Machine will be the bodyguard for the president of the united states at some point in the new movie.

there is no set news in there. its all just rumour, spread by latino reviews, and people are blatantly changing it.

If there was any news, you can bet i wouldbe the first to know ;)

Sony's contract predates the creation of Iron Patriot, so what's to say Sony has the rights to Iron Patriot?

They combined Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo into one character in the last film, nothing stops it in the next one with Iron Patriot and whoever is piloting it. Likely they won't even address the character as Iron Patriot, maybe some offhand comment like saying to Rhodey "you want to be the war machine."

Comic-Con: Fantastic Four Director Confirmed While Daredevil Director Exits | Superhero Hype

David Slade who was attached to the Daredevil movie last year is not directing it.
"The studio has a script it likes, but has to get the film into production by fall or risk losing the property back to Marvel Studios and Disney" . Slade couldn't make the timing work because he's directing the "Hannibal" series pilot for NBC.

And Chronicle director Josh Trank is now officially set to direct the Fantastic Four reboot.

If only there was a facepalm smiley.....

No but all kidding aside, Dune said pretty much what I was going to say......

These movies, while somewhat influenced, don't completely follow the comics/stories we know. So yeah, who is to say that AIM isn't run by Fred Flintstone who invents the Iron Patriot and flies around in it trying to destroy Iron Man every step of the way, all the while convincing people he is the real hero.

Just because something happened in the comics we know, doesn't mean it all is used in a movie. The people who whine all day about how "THe HP MOVIES SUCK BECAUSE THE MOVIE DOESN"T HAVE SOME D RATED CHARACTER WHO MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO THE OVERALL STORY WHATSOEVER!!! :cry " I don't know if it is the Iron Patriot, War Machine, Fred Flintstone, an angry Harry Potter character who was cut from the movie, or Christian Bale. But it sure as hell looks like the Iron Patriot. And based on the knowledge we have at this moment, I am ok with it. As long as the movie is good, I could care less if they follow the comics. They are two separate mediums. It is ok w/me if they create a story to make a good movie instead of staying true to someone else' story.

Iron Patriot???

The movies made by Marvel Studios have followed the comics a lot more faithfully than the movies of Marvel characters made by other studios, haven't they?

No more please.

Especially Punisher. There's been what? 4 of those. They all sucked.

It just doesn't make it as a movie.

Totally agree, can we please be OVER the Punisher?? Unless he's gonna show up in a Spider-Man film, i think it's a waste of time.

No no, your right. They really have. But what I was saying is that they don't have to. They seem to let these directors have a good amount of creative control. So if that is Iron Patriot, they can make him be anyone, they don't have to stick to the comics for the sake of the movie. If the movie is good, I would think we all won't care too much if they don't stick w/the exact story. But you are 100% right. Those older marvel movies are just nowhere near the accuracy we have seen since. Xmen 3, the last stand?? Ughh.......

Uhhh... :facepalm

Not exactly what I was looking for. I was thinking more like this...

A Secret Wars movie would have to be a trilogy of it's own just for the sheer number of characters and the storyline.
IMO that storyline would have to be completely changed into something interesting.

SW was fun for the crossover aspect, and the changes to various titles it introduced (black costume, etc), but judged on its own merits, it just wasn't a very good series.

Actually, haven't most of the Marvel Studios films been written by some of Marvel's top writers? I feel like Marvel would have a big hand in the scripts since everything's in-house and would want the directors to adhere to them pretty closely once they're finalized. Isn't that one of the reasons Edward Norton was replaced? Because he was trying to strongarm his way into making changes to the Incredible Hulk script and the feel of the movie?

haha Venom a hero, even when he does good things Venom is still rotten to the core but i really couldn't see him getting his own movie.

I just hope that one day they do a Civil War movie(s) :D

I'd LOVE to see a movie (or more) based on the Civil War arc! That would be so awesome. But they'd have to be able to get Iron Man, Cap, Spider Man, and some X-Men into the same film or group of films, so don't see how it could work as it stands.

Either way, if they did it, I'd definitely watch it.
