Mandalorian Reference Thread

Thank you guys for the back info! As for the biker scout gap, I think it fits the time frame since all the stuff in the galaxy now is old run down imperial stuff

Except for gideons crew

I believe they were made in two sizes, because I see them described as either small or large. I would expect they used the large size in the show because it was rather large looking. When you say it’s not a perfect match, are you comparing to the correct size?
I checked pretty much all pics I could find from the google. I couldn't find any P37 bag that had same cut on the sides. One of the scenes looked like it had additional triangular piece on the side to give it more width. Front of the bag is pretty nice match to large P37. Strap might be custom made though. Or at least I couldn't find any similar ones.

I’m not sure what “additional triangle piece” you are referring to. The only thing I notice is a crease in the scene where the trooper hits the bag the first time baby Yoda moves. I only see the crease in that scene, because there are obviously multiple bags used for different scenes Due to practical effects requirements. Because the child was a practical effect, they obviously had to cut a hole in the bottom of some bags to operate the puppet. I’m sure it’s just a crease in that particular prop bag, probably steamed intentionally so the bag flops open after the puppet moves. Otherwise I’m sure it’s a size large British P37, with a custom strap made from a different type of P37 era webbing. The two silver rivets under the flap are what attach the greblies to the outside. You can see a Crown stamped on the inside of the flap in a later scen when underground, which I’m pretty sure is a British model, even though the Canadian model is otherwise identical.

I thought they may have used an Enfield strap for the bag, because it is 43-47” long, but I don’t think they are wide enough. Looks like the strap they used is about 1.75” in width looking at the rivets they used.

I definitely see the P37 as a great fit for the bag. Will be interesting to see if they shoot up in price now, like all those Yugoslavian Shoretrooper pouches.

Perhaps they used a canvas web duty belt for the strap? Like the Ghostbuster belt but with only 2 eyelets instead of three.

I started a mock up clay sculpt of the cygnet. I used screen grabs and a mock up of a pauldran I made.

Make sure and search P37 or P08 British Large Pack. Haversack is the small one (literally means "small pack") and they are confusingly similar.
The strap is a khaki military pistol belt with double prong buckle.
It's probably the XL one which is listed as 54 inches long. That leaves a little room to fold over the ends.
Looks like they just used a couple 2" rectangle belt rings and some rivets to attach the 1 3/4 belt to the 2 inch back straps.

I started hunting for an accurate Pack & other parts needed for the Ep8 baby Yoda Pack as soon as I watched, I was thinking it would be much easier to display my baby Yoda in a Pack rather then one of those IKEA Egg Capsules and I could also take him out for a walk lol!! for those with OCD I was able to take some screen caps of the Pack & match the manufacture stamp on the inside of the flap, if you wish to match the screen Pack with the same vintage Pack you need to look for a British Large Pack H & S 1943 ^ of course all the other manufactures Packs work.

Edit:

The Pack I matched & posted was carried by Dune (screen cap) and possibly IG-11 & Mando towards the end of the episode.

I also messaged on Friday the sellers of the military pistol belt with double prong buckle that lonepigeon listed & some others requesting confirmation of the number of double hole rows that are close together & photos as all the pics I found online had the belt rolled up and I wanted to confirm the correct number of rows seen on screen, one seller replied I can't help that's to difficult... what it''s to hard to take 1 minute to count a few rows of holes on a belt, I guess that seller did not want my money lol!!

I will post any helpful info.

Very much appreciated. Glad you found a post identifying the exact belt, because I hadn’t taken the time to research. I’ll go ahead and order one.

Thank you for doing all the dirty work! I watched this again last night and completely agree that it’s the correct bag

I use one of the smaller sized P37 bag as my every day bag, and have been thinking about getting one of the larger ones for a while. Now I have a second reason to get one, I guess.

There are at least 2 packs, probably more considering the puppet needed to be operated while in one (bottom was likely cut out).
The pack in the beginning with the two biker scouts has different markings. I went with that model since I got a good deal on it.

For the rank bar on the pack I'm probably going with these...
Those are the exact same as used in the classic trilogy.

It's possible they used the EAO version here (which is popular with the 501st):

I ordered an XL belt from Army Universe. I'd be happy to report back details when I receive it.
It's such a common piece I'm sure there's time for people to wait for in-hand confirmation of details before ordering.

Congrats Chris on the pickup, I was unable to match the partially seen marking on the Pack carried by the Biker at the start but was able to match & pickup the Pack carried by Dune (screen cap) and possibly IG-11 & Mando.

Thanks for the links, I was looking on Mouser for a match if I find any I will post here for discussion.

Great lets hope its a match (y) and they did not use some obscure belt.

Hi I'm currently making a Cara Dune costume. I'm really struggling to find the right material that is used on her breast plate and legs. See picture below. Not sure if its rubber or fabric? Does anybody have any ideas? Your help is much appreciated!

Rothco Vintage Double Prong Buckle Belt

I received the following information from Rothco which confirms the XL Belt has 8x sets of close holes, on-screen there is 7x sets seen + the 1x set the rivets go through on the reverse of the belt, so it would appear this is the belt we need, hope this info helps.

"Size XL has 20 sets of holes total. There are 12 sets of holes starting at the buckle that are 3” apart, then there are 8 sets of holes that are 1” apart (so that you can select your waist size). There is a 3” space at the end of the belt with no holes"
