There, fixed that for ya!He is wearing a CHAIN-MAIL suit with a dirty yellow S, and I'm still going to go see it.
Why make a Superman movie if you don't really like the character?
Not sure where you heard Singer wasn't into the character of Superman. He's pretty much said he loved the 1978 film, which is why he tried to, essentially, make a sequel to the Reeve movies. He wanted to make Superman, leaving the X-Men franchise to do so.
Well yeah, it kind of backfired when Singer did his homage to the Reeve era Superman. I'll give Singer props though, for having the balls and courage to spend $200 million on his vision of Superman and getting away with it! lol!
It just kind of felt odd. Technically speaking, the film is beautifully shot, and retains the John Williams themes, and overall its a well made film.
However the story was just a rehash and had very little action, drab colour scheme, and awful cape attachment on supermans costume, and just overall was more a nostalgic trip rather than spectacular.
They could have easily done a proper "Restart" or "reboot" that year, yet still kept the best bits like the John Williams theme but up the action and giving us something more spectacular.
I waited 19 years since Superman IV, and in comparison, Superman IV is a damn sight more watchable (despite its problems)
Feel sorry for Brandon Routh, guy wasn't even given a chance to properly be Superman, even though he was tailor made for the role and should have been doing the role for years to come.
Agreed 100%I saw the 2hr and 45 min version of this chunk of garbage and Routh was and is nothing more than a soap opera actor - meaning he's not good at it. Most of his talking scenes were cut from the final film - including the banter between he and Lex on the Kryptonite island. The only thing I ever hear from people is how much he looks like Reeve - (I personally don't think so) - but if you're going to toss out Singer's love for Donner - then a Chris look a like has to go as well. Reeve had a lot more going for him - he was a good actor - with the ability to make you believe. I think Singer just had a crush on Routh.
I thought the whole film looked like it was filmed on a stage - (because it was), but the backgrounds reeked as phony - unlike Donner's where he shot on the streets of New York and not Canada - or where ever this Wal-Mart 5.99 bin filler was made.
Bottom line is Singer had no take on this movie - nothing. He did good with X-Men because he substituted mutants for homosexuals - he understood the battleground.
Right- I took the news as 'there's no Kryptonite in this movie'. Doesn't mean the stuff isn't still out there for the sequels.
I touched up the colors in the pic from earlier today-- on the fence as to whether I like it better.....

On the one hand it's closer to the classic colors, but on the other hand maybe I'm ready for a more sensible looking suit. Thoughts?
