This suit looks like he has been in a coal mine.

A kickball from a coal mine.

They're apparently wanting a "realistic" superman so they're leaving out kryptonite. God the superman costume looks terrible. they should have gone with the body armor style from New 52 if anything. This is as bad as the Returns suit. Apparently costume designers have no imagination these days.

Nothing's as bad as the returns suit! I'd rather no briefs than tiny briefs; the Returns 2" thick S shield and "S" belt buckle were ludicrous; the tiny collar/neck opening was all wrong.

The texture on this one is a bit overdone, but at least the proportions are solid, and they seem to have put some narrative thought behind what it is and where it came from.

A lot of reports are coming in from the screenings saying that it's not nearly as dark a film as the early looks would indicate. They're apparently leaving a lot off the table for now. I'm getting used to the suit, and I'm beginning to get my hopes up for the film... Dangerous territory!

Oh - also, just because they left Kryptonite out of this first film doesn't mean it won't make an appearance in the series. I would think it'd show up eventually.

Right- I took the news as 'there's no Kryptonite in this movie'. Doesn't mean the stuff isn't still out there for the sequels.

I touched up the colors in the pic from earlier today-- on the fence as to whether I like it better.....

On the one hand it's closer to the classic colors, but on the other hand maybe I'm ready for a more sensible looking suit. Thoughts?

The pattern on the suit reminds me of the imprints you'd get in elementary school when a kickball'd hit you hard lol. Actually we used those for dodgeball too.

Im definitely going to see this movie, but I am skeptical.

I still go all the way back to An Evening With Kevin Smith when he talks about Jon Peters. Jon Peters was Executive Producer on Superman Returns and is Executive Producer on Man of Steel.

Kevin Smith talks about Superman - YouTube

I thought Returns could have been better, but I still liked it. I expect to like Man of Steel, but something tells me both could have been better if DC had their own studio like Marvel.

This new Zod doesn't look nearly as menacing as the original or even the newer comic version that Richard Donner had when he was helping write the book.

You clearly haven't taken a good, up-close look at the teaser poster that's been in theaters for months, then...

Go ahead, click on it. Look at it in its full, High Definition glory! IT LOOKS LIKE CHAIN-MAIL. Even the Kryptonian "long-johns" are armor. ;)

I don't like how they're handling baby Supes. Don't like the idea behind it at all.

Same here. I hope they don't put some kind of agenda or something like that behind it. I don't want a political or social message with my super hero movies.
