Man of Steel (Pre-release)

I like the fact that they appear to be addressing the moral and ethical issues that Superman should be wrestling with. I got a HUGE grin on my face during the exchange with Pa regarding the need to keep his powers hidden.

This looks really good. Marvel better think have a good comeback plan, like a better plan than churning out Avengers sequels.

Am I the only one that didn't like it? I preferred the trailer from Comic Con times a hundred. I don't know maybe it was the music?

I'm not too taken with this one.

I don't like the "dark" or "realistic" (???) take on superheroes. Gimme the brightly colored Chris Reeve tights with the red undies anyday! Hell, I even enjoyed Routh in Supes Returns!

Looks fairly good - though that awful cringe worthy music makes me very dubious of the possible tone of the movie.

Sadly the trailer didn't do much for me. I really wish it had, I would like to be excited by it, but I'm just not. At least it's not blatantly ripping off Donner.

Loved it. I am still holding back on my excitement for the film some but that trailer has a lot going for it. Some people were complaining about the origin story again. Last time Superman's origin was told on film was 1978. I dont mind it being told now. Superman is in serious need of a reboot. I am not worried about the music. John Williams is king but this film is not Donner/Reeves so I am fine with a new score as well. I even like the color tone. Marvel has the colorful comicbook look going. Nolan's tone for TDK Trilogy worked so I cant blame them for taking it into MoS and JL. Time will tell but my hopes are growing.

I have really enjoyed Nolan's Batman movies, So I am hoping that this Superman movie will do the same. I am looking forward to go seeing it.

Under no circumstances would Pa Kent EVER tell Clark that letting children drown to hide his identity was the right thing to do.

This movie is **** if that's the direction they are taking.

The Kents are what MADE Superman what he was. His powers and abilities were simply a matter of birth. What Superman IS was a product of his upbringing.

I don't recall Pa Kent saying it was the "right thing" to do in the trailer.

Clark asked if he should have let them drown. Pa said "maybe." And that's the extent of it *that we see.* It feels like a cut when he was about to say more.

This could be a build up to a bigger conversation. Can Superman save everyone? No. Nor can he or should he solve everyone's problems.

Or it could be along the lines of: "Maybe.... there is a different way." And lead to a conversation about his identity and protecting / hiding it.

Point is, there are a LOT of ways that could go that would remain true to the character of Pa Kent.
