I think the neckline is something else that screws this costume up. I don't like it. If they were going in the direction of the new comic suit I wish they would have updated the neckline.

They could have gone all the way and just did this: (which I would like much better than the aquaman suit he has on.)

From what I've read about the New Superman Actor at least he's bulking up for the role, unlike Routh who wore Padding for his Muscles:

I'll wait and see how this New Superman Film turns out... but I'm disappointed that they are using Zod :thumbsdown as the Villain, when there are so many other Bad Guys to chose from!

Just cause an actor wears padding/muscle suit does not mean they don't have the required body for the superhero role. It is sometimes more to do with the fact that the designers/director want to have a uniform proportionate look for the suit and want it to remain consistent.

I know there is a huge of difference of opinion among fans about Superman Returns, but let's not assume Brandon Routh didn't dedicate himself to the role and that he didn't do justice to it.

Um, Superman isn't about kicking ass or causing destruction. The cool part about him is that his moral compass always points the right way and when he does have to kick a bad guy's ass it's only because he wasn't left much choice. Also, making Superman darker or more somber, even just in the costume, is ****ING RETARDED. He's Superman for ****'s sake.

I know Zod is the baddy, but does anyone else want to see Supie fight a giant robot, like Fleischer-style? That'd be awesome. I'd cut off my left foot to see the Wachowskis do a period Superman movie.

Then again, it's no secret that I'm a Snyder fan, so I'm still looking forward to this, whatever it will be.

Someone over Superherohype.com did a shop of the costume: brightened the colors, smoothed down the texture and giving Cavill some kinda spitcurl - nope, still not Supes in my book, but it could be worse (like Nic Cage/Burton 6@$t@rd-child Supes):

I just realized why it looks SO wrong to leave off the trunks for me - after so many decades of wearing this uniform, it looks like he's naked without them. You expect to see his junk when the trunks are missing.

They always complain about the suit because it always ****ing sucks.

I like Zack Snyder's work, I like the cast (including Cavill), but the suit sucks and so does his hair.

And I don't want a period piece.

With THAT many clashing egos in Hollywood, big bucks-spending producers making the calls and not the fans... it can be VERY hard to make a good movie.


And my opinion of Cavill as Supes.... just not hitting me right yet. I don't know what it is about him. He doesn't quite have an honest and trusting look to him looking especially at that photo.

Reeve, to me, will always be the definitive Superman. There was just something so strong about him. The way he stood, the way he looked and everything. You could just look at him and you know that everything's going to be okay in the face of evil. Even as Clark Kent he was just awesome. He never over-did it.

Give us something worth enjoying. Give us something that lives up to Superman... not a half assed costume that isn't representative of the character that we all know and love.

That said, I'll give it a chance and I hope to enjoy it. But, based on this early look - it's not going to be am enjoyable experience.
