making latex masks

I am new to this but would like to try my hand at making latex masks. I am looking at ones like in Buffy or Angel. Even Vamp prosthetics. I am completely ignorant as to how to start and what I need. But I do want to try. I would like help with what materials to buy for the process all the way to the best air brush and paints to use. Any of you that have done this before your time and considerable knowledge would be appreciated. I want to make something durable wearable and displayable. Also How to make a face cast of myself to use for the prosthetics.
