Making a hazmat zombie.... What would you want to see on it?

I have a friend of mine who runs a haunted house semi local to me. He was hoping to have me make him a zombie in a hazmat suit, with some kinda nuke/biological case thats open, etc to show zombiedom and also show him being messed up. Not quite a Patient Zero kinda thing, but more along the lines of "whoops, shouldn't have opened that case".

The only problem is he trusts my judgement and taste, and that in itself is laughable. I need some directions on how to go, and his only reply is "Just make it look cool!"

That really doesn't help me out much, so I figured if I gotta get a lot of peoples opinions on how to make something cooler than I thought, I would pop up here and ask.

The plan, right now, is to simply tweak a mannequin and a hazmat costume, and use a zombie mask appliance for the face. I might use a ripped up suit, or maybe just a few small holes or something. The nuke idea is somewhat easy compared to the biological case idea, mainly because I can make 2 green glowing canisters pretty easy and have them fit in a aluminum case. Not too sure how to do biological, and I don't want the project to die (pardon the pun) before halloween. Whatever materials I use have to survive over the next 6-7 months.

So... Feel free to lob up some ideas on how to get this creepy looking. I am a little stumped, but I have some decent ideas for the head and the body, but I can't remember if people wear clothes under hazmat suits or just tyvek suits....

Anywho, it doesn't have to be SUPER detailed because it will mostly be in the dark, but I think I might go the "glowing radioactive" look with some UV paint and a few UV leds in the helmet and maybe the bodysuit.

Pop up some ideas if you got em!

Thanks
Chris

Yes people can wear clothes under the suits (I have been in one long ago) but if you are wearing normal clothes care is taken that you do not have anything that could puncture the suit. So I don't think there is a wrong answer.

Good idea on the holes in the suit, since he is not Patient Zero you could have the holes be rips made by zombies. Bloody finger streaks, finger prints, etc. For the Bio element, go with warning stickers, haz-mat icons/ or radioactive.

Sound fx- Maybe some warning loop and other tecky sounds.

I own a haunted house, and it's a Genetic Lab theme ( thelabhaunt.com)...so we have zombies and hazmat, gas mask people running all around.

Splatter the inside of the face shield with blood...as if the person threw up, upon getting the virus...then cut the visor so it's jagged and broken, exposing the zombies face. Maybe try a small led, green or clear but dim...and put it in the suit lighting the zombies face from underneath. Like that spooky thing ya do when you hold a flash light under your chin.

Also if you decide to make him glow like the above people said...green is the human nature way of thinking of radiation and toxic waste. If you rip the suit like suggested above, high-light the body with the glow in the black light green...they also have these pulsating light sockets...( the light gets bright and then dim on it's own) shine it on him and it will look like his skin is pulsating, brighter and dimmer.

He already has the sound effect stuff worked out. It's apparently going to be mounted on some kinda dolly system to have it move around in the background while others move around too.

I plan on making the nuke canisters with some PVC pipe, green LEDS and the guts from a water fog machine. It takes a while for it to run low on water, and its refillable, and won't smell like ass.

Love the ideas for the bloody handprints!!! I was thinking tears, maybe something stuck in him like a piece of angle iron or something....

The light idea can also work :). UV paints and some UV leds will have him glowing pretty well under mini blacklight :D. I just have to see if the facemask and/or costume will look weird under the effects too.

Thank god I have a few months to work on this. So many cool ideas, and just one lonely mannequin ******* to make. I should thank my stars and garters that he didn't request a zombie legion :lol

How about his top half looks fine but with a pained expression and do an animatronic(or walk past obstacle) reveal to show his bottom half is missing - blood, guts, entrails the works?
