Making a 1:1 scale Ewok FINISHED (also Wicket)

Re: Making a 1:1 scale ewok

Sewed the hood by hand with strips of leather for that "Ewok look", and distressed it as well. Still have to paint the ears too....

Re: Making a 1:1 scale ewok

I AM planning to do the whole body!!! I actually need to have the whole thing finished by the end of June so I can put it on display at a Con.

Any thoughts/ideas on how to make the body are welcome!!

After this I'm also planning to make another Ewok, a Gonk droid, a scale jawa display, and then who knows. Lol

Wow...no one would ever guess what that started out as last page. Just terrific looking!

Re: Making a 1:1 scale ewok

That's absolutely amazing. Who would have thought the Hulk could become an Ewok

Re: Making a 1:1 scale ewok

This thing was the hit of the Rebel Legion table, this past weekend at Dallas Comic Con.

Re: Making a 1:1 scale ewok

Wow, one of the funniest and original thread I'have seen here. You did an amazing job on that, I can't wait to see it finished.

Re: Making a 1:1 scale ewok

Seems like an obivious solution, but it'd be worth checking thrift stores for stuffed animals, big teddy bears etc. That'd be a good cheap way to get the body/fur. I had great luck locating a big pink bunny when I was doing my Gummo hat years ago.

This is going to be a free-standing display right? I'd think a PVC frame bulked with duct-tape and bubble wrap...

Great ideas everyone, keep them coming! And thanks for all the kind words.

Ive looked for teddy bears, but even the really big ones ive found are too small. Plus I have a roll of fur to match the fur on the head, so it will have to be applied to the whole body.

For now Im going with PVC skeleton, and wrapping in bubble wrap, foam, and any other items i can find.....

I will probably paper mache the fingers and toes and cover that will clay and paint...But were not there quite yet, lol.

This is amazingly impressive. I looked at the first pics and thought "It will look good, but not that good".

(facepalm) WRONG. This thing looks great. It is almost unbelievable. Except I got to see most of the process through pics. Just wow. I mean, this is really great looking. I am really excited to see how the rest turns out.

If you are looking for torso type material, you may want to look into used youth/junior hockey equipment/sports equipment. You can make shoulders and an upper chest out of a used old youth chest pad, or if you have a little more money to spend, you can get an entire upper torso out of a used goalie chest pad. (Youth or junior sizes are probably best for an Ewok).

These are some links just for reference. They do exist for cheaper, especially used. But most player chest pads are probably around $15-$30, and goalie C/A's are probably $30-$70. But they would provide good rigid form, and you can fill the insides w/clay, duct tape, etc.

Bauer Supreme One40 Yth. Shoulder Pads

Koho 680 Yth. Chest & Arm Protector

I play goal, but do not have any youth pads. If I did, I would just send you one. But I only own Senior XL sizes.

Thanks so much for the support!!

Things have slowed down just a little cause of my schedule at the fire department, and i realized i needed to scale down the size of the skeleton just a little bit.

The standard ewok is supposed to be about 3ft 3inches tall or a couple inches either way. Ive scaled down the skeleton so now he is about 3ft 4 and a half inches, so as soon as i get off shift (cause im on now) I will start with the padding of the body!

Re: Making a 1:1 scale ewok

Looks so awesome. I seen a video of a guy who did an ewok. I'm not sure if you have seen it. Maybe you can get some ideas off of the 2 or 3 videos he did. Hope it helps. Keep up the great work. This inspires me to make one.

Re: Making a 1:1 scale ewok

Started the padding, found some old pillows and some stuffing from fabric store....

Body starting to take shape.
