Mad Max: Fury Road

Tom Hardy can reshape his body for each role. However I'm not entirely sure what version of Hardy we will see

As long as its not this one.............

Its very clear from interviews that Hardy is going to give this Max a much higher level of physicality but at this point im fascinated in his first words in the film, how is he going to approach the accent? I want to hear him say "Barrrrrrrrrrrrrrgin".

Mel played up the accent, its not difficult to do even more so considering the limited dialogue the character perpetually had in RR. That limited amount of lines is what helped make the character believable. Im still reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally afraid were going down Terminator Salvation road vs Road Warrior greatness with this one.

If anyone bothered to put two and two together "Fury Road" has a character named "Furiosa". Its less about the name we are relating to the film but more about the character in it.

If the storyline of this Max not being THE Max plays out, I guess Hardys got a blank canvas and as we saw in TDKR, the accent could be an amalgam.

I kind of like that monster the more I see it! But come on let's see the interceptor and maybe a cooked Goose!

......Good point but there is something covering the side pipes and the back of the coupe as well and the front wheels look like sunnies and you can see the distinctive roof spoiler clearly, the front spoiler looks a little short though. Will take a stab that the tank on the back and the oversize rears are decoys and the colour, something temp perhaps.

Without Mel, the only remaining icon from the series is BoB, I doubt Miller would mess around with it and have one as a background chase vehicle etc BUT this whole thing might go in such a direction that by just including an XB coupe in any form will be the only nod to the past we may get. But your right, it could be the main baddies wheels, in can see Theron in this with her shaved head and hook arm.

I get the feeling that this movie is basically an attempt to remake "Road Warrior" on a grander scale.

They say it's within the existing timeline between #1 and #2. But I don't see any evidence that it represents any kind of midrange between #1 and #2, it just looks exactly like #2. Putting it slightly before #2 was probably just a way of keeping the BOB Interceptor in the movie.

The main character -
My money is on Max Rockatansky being the star again. Tom Hardy does not physically look very much like Mel. But I could definitely see them casting him as Mel and thinking he could bring the same kind of tone to the screen that Mel had. (Did Roger Moore look very much like Sean Connery? Etc.)

Tom Hardy's thicker muscular shape -
Anyone they cast as Mel was gonna be stockier than Mel was in the originals. Hollywood's leading men have just changed shape since the early 1980s. Max was always supposed to be a rough & tumble badass. Nowadays Hollywood wouldn't cast anyone so lean & un-chiseled to play a role like that.

The new Interceptors -
Don't think like fanboys, think like moviemakers. The differences between the old BOB Interceptor in the original movies and the pics of the modern black Falcon prop-cars are much too small to signal a different character/car. These modern black prop-cars are definitely portraying the same car that was in the first two movies.

(The original Interceptor overheated like crazy from that customized nose with the grill openings too small. They actually smashed it off in the "Road Warrior" storyline to fix the problem. The big grilles over the headlights of the new Interceptors may be a concession to help that problem now, since the front end has to stay on this whole movie in order for it to be there at the beginning of "Road Warrior".)

Several black Falcons -
No modern Mad Max movie is gonna happen without several copies of the star car, regardless of what they do with it onscreen. I would expect them to have at least 5-8 copies if it sees any chase action at all. Probably more. Lots of modern car chase movies use 10+ copies of their star car even if it is supposed to survive the whole story intact.

Other colored Ford Falcons on the set -
The original "Road Warrior" used other Ford Falcons as bad-guy cars, why not this time again? Those things were as common as old Mustangs & Camaros in 70s/80s Australia. It would help the movie feel like the old ones to see the same old cars/trucks showing up again.

Is the BoB you are referring to the one in the publicity shot taken nearly two years ago in a warehouse batguy? Im thinking it is as I havent seen any pictures at all of the XB`s used in the new movie apart from the one above. If there are others, please let us know.

When that pic was taken, Mel was still slated as the lead so I wouldnt put much cash on that version of the car being the one. Only one Falcon Coupe was used by the Wastelanders in MM2, the skull and crossbones car which was also dressed as an old MFP car if you look closely. Ive abandoned the in between MM1 and 2 line, gunna stick with a continuation of the "Great Northern Tribe" story. Wont be long to find out, the girl who does wardrobe at my work is over there, SA, as we speak.

That's what I was referring to, yeah. I remember seeing a few different shots of the car from different angles but it was that warehouse one. That thing had to be portraying Max's original car.

If Mel was in the lead role then there shouldn't have been anything resembling his old Interceptor in the movie. Mel's current age would have forced the movie far past "Thunderdome" on the timeline. Showing Mel driving a near-clone of his old car 30 years after "Road Warrior" would be cute, but it makes absolutely no story sense. I would be surprised if they were ever seriously considering that.

I haven't followed the development of this movie religiously. But I remembered Mel being out of the lead role already by the time they showed those cars in the warehouse. And I remember at some relatively recent time they were saying the new movie would take place between the first two. It all makes sense if they built the recent warehouse Interceptor for Mel's replacement actor to drive in a new movie set between the first two.

I for one would love to see the new movie set between one and two, just dont see it happening, it came up on the net a week or two ago but has been attributed to no one as yet so i put little faith in it. One site has even called it a prequel. Hmmmm. Theres some good discussion on this some pages ago.

The project has been in a cocoon of secrecy since the start and those early publicity shots in the warehouse were surely a tease or decoy at best, its strictly the trailers job to blow all the details pre release.:lol

"Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived."

Uh . . . word burgers?

Looks like Dr Miller is going down the Thunderdome path of ridiculous Australiana/Wasteland kids dialog, my guess word burger is a story or guide from ancient text etc, maybe an old copy of Mad Magazine.:lol. This worries me a little.

All of the current photos of Hardy show him with a full on beard so if my detective hunch is correct Max may have a beard at some point.
