Mad Max Fury Road Torinoceptor build.

greetings, have been building my tribute to mad max fury road interceptor the last 11 months. i am about 95% complete, just gotta wait till winter weather to build the nose of the car. in the mean time i have been hitting the road, cruise ins and car shows and even invited to show at a local convention here. i had looked into buying an Australian Falcon XB but couldn't afford it so the next best thing was to build it myself using the 71 ford torino, which shares a few body lines but a tad bigger. anyways it all about the will and motivation that leads to fun! =)

thanks! =) i set blower up as in movies, its just a gutted case that runs off a york A/C compressor that is switched with the red push/pull switch on shifter. the blower is whiny as heck too. got straight cut pulley so its noisy. george k. whom supplied the fury road tank on interceptor for movie made all my fuel tank pieces, the side scoops above the zoomie exhaust, and he did the RVS radio. =) really great guy.

Do you know the story behind the "feral kid"?

When I met Vernon Wells a few years ago, he told me that this kid on set (one of the extras' kids?) was really acting up and Miller yelled out, "who's feral kid is that?"

The used him in the movie to give him something to do.

I thought I saw an interview with him where he said that they auditioned a number of kids for the feral kid, and they each had to come up with a backstory for the kid and so Emil Minty had the best story, so he was casted.

The interesting part of that meet and greet was, normally you pay your fee and get 5 or 10min with the celeb. I got to spend most of the day with the guy talking about all things MAD MAX 2 and COMMANDO. I had no idea the guy has done almost 200 movies. In my photo, he is wearing my 501st Garrison shirt and didn't seem to want to give it back.

The first 2 MAD MAX films were made on a shoe string budget. Many extras in the first film were paid with beer. So I really don't see them doing a 'casting call" for a kid who doesn't even speak in the film.

I knew that the biker gang in the original Mad Max was payed for in beers, but to my understanding, Road Warrior was where Miller got the budget that they wanted, which allowed them to cast many other extras and elaborate on the costuming and cars.

Awesome!, Great job, nice detailing, the Torino makes a great interceptor, I'd almost keep the front end the way it is, it already looks right at home in the post apocalyptic Mad Max universe, don't know if it is as cool as the Arcadipane, but pretty cool, especially with the hide away headlights.

I always thought one of the second generation Ford Torino GTs would’ve probably been the base car for Max’s Pursuit Special if the original film was shot in the U.S. I’d seen the preproduction concept art for the original proposed Mustang version, but always thought it was too small for what is was supposed to be. I think your Torino is an excellent rendering of what I had in mind for the car. Is it a GT? Eitherways, I’m very glad you were able to do it justice! Also, kudos for coming up with the “Torinoceptor” moniker, I think it’s catchy and fits very well!

Honestly, leave it the way it is. I don't think changing the nose will make a huge difference.

MAD MAX - BEYOND THUNDERDOME had the big budget for the cars. I don't think MAD MAX 2 did.

Oh, Hi! Followed your build on the Facebook Group and man, I am jealous. That car turned out niiiiiiice! You give hope to us scrubs that cannot afford Falcons!

thanks! =) just a torino 500, 302v2 c4 transmission. no frills. 2:73 rear end, great on interstates and around town. torinoceptor is a a term my buddy in oregon came up with. he actually has an australian falcon xb done up as car from fury road. met him through my Facebook page and at wasteland weekend 2017. got to ride in his BoB in the saturday car show parade at WW. =)

wow! thanks everyone. had forgotten posted here!! emil is a really great guy, i was shocked when he actually commented on my build, i was in orbit lol. as for car i am still having fun and just driving her around. the exhaust is loud and wife and i were on a 2 hr drive to a con and my left ear had a ring to it after we got there. the drive on interstate was a blast! lost of people slowing down and taking pics lol one guy even yelled "witness" that was so cool. lol again thanks!!
