Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Found this sketch of Max's back tattoo and confirmation of gardening tool used for the mask. Not sure what magazine this came from.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

What I'm trying to figure out is the G3 mag pouch. From the reference photos you can see an overlapping seam that goes all the way down the pouch as if two pieces were stitched together.

The pouch already in that location has a stitching down the middle for the separator inside but no seam, so I'm wondering if this pouch was used and how was it altered to fit.

I just took the plunge and started cutting. I was counting on this stitched separator's existence to do the work for me

So I cut it down and I was left with this, which the placement looks right to me, I just probably could have been a bit more mindful about cut control

As far as it fitting a G3 mag, I don't have one to test it. But cutting it did leave this gap in the bottom right corner of the pouch, whichmakes it look like it could accomodate something of that width

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

There's some additional footage in the FR trailer for China: Nothing too substantial (Note the new shot of Max wandering thru the crowd of Wastrels and crowd riot shot).

There may be a couple of new angles of his costume.

Anyone wanna take a stab at grabbing some shots?

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Also note the new narration - I dunno if the voice over was purely for foreign markets. Hardy notably proclaims "I am the Road Warrior.."

I'm wondering if these voice over/narrations constitute most most of his "lines" in the movie. I think so far we've heard more of Hardy's voice than we ever did of Mel in MM2.

I don't think there should be a gap there. The pouch looks completely sealed from all the photos I've seen. Just cut at the top to expose the mags.

Also where the seam is in some of the photos it looks like the top part of the pouches. The lip part that folds over. Looks like this is the part the gets overlapped and stitched, or at least that's how it appears. Not sure from where though.

I'm still speculating though as I don't know for sure. Just some of my observations so far.

Since you don't have the mags this should give you an idea of the fitment. This is from the large pouch from the side. They seem to fit perfect in there.

I'm hoping after the release of the movie we'll get more pictures and info on these. I want to be sure how everything is stitched together first before doing anything. I'm still too scared to experiment with mine so kudos to you. :thumbsup

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Could it possibly be the pouch cut out, flipped inside out, and reattached? That's all I got.

That crossed my mind too but it just seems odd to do it that way. The inside has a wax coating too so I think the texture would look different in the photos.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

thanks everybody for all the great info. I just wanted to drop a tip. I bought the jacket I'm using for my max from an ebay seller who is liquidating their store at the end of April. they are taking "all reasonable offers", and they accepted my offer of $60 on a jacket that they had listed for $90 and another for $30 that was listed at $45. who knows, they might go lower. shipping is a tad high (Canadian post?), but if you are stuck for a jacket it might be worth your time. just search out the seller GOODBUYBARRY and good luck!

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Apologies if this has already been answered, but does Max have a shotgun holster with his new outfit? I've been studying the photos but have yet to find anything that looks like it would hold a sawed off double barrel.

He has one with the first outfit but its missing when he wears the battle jacket.
You can see it hanging on the side of what looks to be a plate carrier at the beginning of the very first trailer.
You can see it here #25

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

From all the stills I could find that contained the leg brace, I put this together. I had a roll of worbla that I had never used, so I figured why not use it for this?
It looks like there is a little piston/compressor mechanism on the outside bottom of the brace with a little arm attached to it. I'm sure we'll ID it later, but this will work for the opening night : D

That's great Noaton! Nice work on figuring out the piston. What did you use for that piece? Does that type have a specific name we could look up to try and find one?

Thanks

I haven't been able to ID anything on the braces because of the lack of detail in the photos. I do think the top and bottom are from two different braces. I have no idea what that piston or whatever it is, is. Or what it does. In many pics, the brace is just ill-fitting and doesn't seem to support anything..
As for what I used, the whole thing is worbla

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Well, I managed to find one at a slight discount on a gun auction site. This thing is gorgeous! I would highly recommend it if you're in the market for a good survival knife anyway.
Now I think I want to get a spare sheath to destroy like you did Comicguy. :cool
