Machined Iron Man Arc Reactor:

Re: Machined Iron Man RT

amazing work

i know its the question everyone has

would you be so kind and do a kit run for us out here?

please

Re: Machined Iron Man RT

Very nice! Now you just need a hole in your sternum to stick it in...(or am I thinking the wrong prop bit here?)

Re: Machined Iron Man RT

Thanks a bunch for the kind words.

Hopefully by end of day I will have some more progress pics. The shop is a bit of a mess though and I think shop cleaning might beat out RT building...but probably not...lol

Re: Machined Iron Man RT

very cool can't wait to see more. Been watching some videos on youtube and getting a hanckerin to make one based on what I've seen

Re: Machined Iron Man RT

I had some time this afternoon to finish up a couple more assemblies.

First up is the section which sits on the very top of the RT.

Still keeping with aluminum as the material. The parts that were painted were once again filed on the corners/edges to wear it down a bit.

Once the entire prop is finished up I will probably go over it with some scotch brite to knock it down as a uniform piece.

Sleeping on things sometimes isnt the greatest idea.

I wasnt entirely sold on the wire that I had previously used to wrap the coils...and was even less impressed when I looked at it again today.

Soooo...long story short and about (x10) 36 wrappings each, I have what I am hoping is the finished coil assembly.

I still have to make the small brass pads/wires that join each of the 10 coils together but at least I can cross this assembly off of the list.

My goto source in a pinch for really small wire mesh is a... tea strainer in this case.

The mesh will provide a nice means of breaking up the look of the lights below the coil/fin assembly...and it looks to be present on the screen used prop so on it went.

And now all back together.

I still have 3 more parts to make before the RT is finished up so hopefully it should be finished up in a few days.

Re: Machined Iron Man RT

And a bit of light to see if I am on the right track.

Thanks for all of the comments.

Have a great weekend.

Re: Machined Iron Man RT: New Pics in Post #33

I would be in for a kit as well. Have you considered doing the Mark II arc reactor or the arc reactors from Iron Man 2? Does anyone happen to know if the second arc reactor from Iron Man is the same and the first arc reactor in the sequel?
