M*A*S*H* Props

Ah... Ok...

I was thinking of the sign since - IIRC - there were two versions made; one for location shooting, and one for the soundstage.

Sorry for the confusion! :wacko

Oh also The park was the location for many other cool SciFi locations.

The grotto where Taylor and crew find the waterfall in POTA is there. That is also the pool of water that Logan and Jessica jump into in Logan's Run. And where Professor John Robinson fights some Amazon chick in an episode of Lost in Space. Also the location for both Ape cities and the cornfield where the hunt occurs.

Almost as cool of a location as Vasquez Rocks. (where Kirk fought the Gorn).

OK, so not a prop, but a set of autographs... and since autographs have already been mentioned, I thought I'd share.

Here's my M*A*S*H autograph set:

Well, since this is a topic near-and-dear to my heart, here's what I've dug up.

On this forum:

They're talking about the MASH event happening at Malibu Creek State Park. One of the event coordinators is posting there.

Here is the best pic of the site as it has looked recently (pre-restoration):

You can actually see the rusted out jeep, picnic table next to it and, in the shrubs to the north, the old ambulance. The old helo pad is the raised area to the lower left.

Many years ago, I was fortunate to see the MASH exhibit that was curated by the Smithsonian in Washington, DC entitled "M*A*S*H: Binding*up*the*Wounds", at the National Museum of American History. In the program for that exhibit, there was probably one of the best maps I've ever seen before or since of the on-location camp filming site at the Malibu Creek State Park, with annotations. Map follows:

Also, that same year, Newsweek did a big article on the show for the Series Finale, in which another map was included. Not quite as technically accurate as the Smithsonian map, but certainly more colorful.

Here are some "best guess" maps I drew up on the camp, both movie and TV versions, plus the Stage 9 interior layout, plus layout of the hospital on Stage 9 (THAT was hard with all the flying walls they had!)

Enjoy!

Great job Gebirg

Those were exactly the kind of layouts/maps I was looking for.

My first MASH project is going to be making personel files for all the characters.

If anybody has any info or suggestions to help fill out the characters, please post, every little bit helps.

That's great work, Gebirg!

Wow, I guess none of the male personnel other than the Colonel, the doctors, the clerk and the padre had anywhere to sleep! No wonder Rizzo was so surly. :lol

Are you sure of the hospital layout? Seems inefficient to put post op on the other side of the clerk's office. They'd have to wheel the patients through the office or outside then back in.

Mind you, I realize TV production has its own demands, and the interior sets of each of those rooms were not connected anyway. And since we never see one wall of the clerk's office due to that being the "fourth wall", who's to say there weren't doors there (that never seem to be used on screen)? ;)

Should anyone ever want me to, I can get you anything you want from Tony Packo's here in Toledo. Jamie Farr's Klinger character made it a national icon here. I was able to go to the final show viewing there, it was a blast and quite the media event. :)

Not props but I do own a bunch of MASH episodes on 16mm film. I have all of what I call the transition episodes. Henry dying/Trap leaving, BJ & Potter arrival, etc. Also a few choice episodes. Adam's Ribs, 5 o'clock Charlie.

Does that mean there really is an Adam's Ribs near the Dearborn Street station in Chicago?

Why not? I got my Chewie suit from the Fearless Costume Company in Philadelphia.

The Wook

ps~if you believe that, i've got a stock tip for you--Pioneer Aviation. shhhhhh.

Hey Toledo! Yeah, Packos is quite the local landmark. I also picked up a Older Mud Hens cap to wear as well.
