Re: Luke Skywalker's TLJ «CreepyUncle» Lightsaber Pre-order

The last message I recieved today was "I'll give you some pictures later. Please wait. Thanks."
Do not worry, guys, as soon as I receive the first photo, I will immediately send it to you.

And I expect even more than you, because I took responsibility for a project.

First result: blade plug and heatsink. Now that the two parts have been completed, but the color has not yet been dealt with. Need to wait for all parts to be finished, then to deal with colors together.
Due to the high workload, so that there is no drop in product quality, there is a slight delay in production. Every day a new part will come out, I will send you a photo.

Looking good!
I still think though, it’s a shame if you’re going to anodize this. People would have to strip it to weather it.

I don’t understand why can’t you weather over it???? Sorry I’m a novice.

Only a silver parts will be anodized. I do not see a problem to weather the anodizing, if there is such a desire. Conversely, to anodize at home I see a huge problem

Apparently stuff like aluminium black doesn’t affect anodized aluminium. I thought it did but apparently no.
The saber is not going to die from never being anodized, it’s a matter of personal preference.
However it’s your run and I fully respect your decisions. :)

agree with annodizing. Def a pain to have it done at home. I'm all for it.

Re: Luke Skywalker's TLJ «CreepyUncle» Lightsaber Pre-order

What are the best options for those that want to weather the saber and make it look used if Alluminium Black does not work through the anodised coating?

Spray-on oven cleaner foes a pretty good job of removing anodized finishes.

Yes, but IMO the best option would be no anodize. I’m sure Luke didn’t anodize his saber in the cave either ;)
I’m all for anodizing the black rings but I really see little to no problem with the rest being raw aluminium. Are people going to use this in extreme corrosive environments since it’s of such importance?

The brass is going to age and oxidize anyway, why not let the rest of the saber age too?

So this saber will be shiny forever - and we all know who like shiny, pristine things - The Empire, that’s who! - Y’all don’t belong to the dark side I hope? ;-p

Sorry for wasting everybody’s time with my constant looped bickering. While I do respect this choice I don’t think it’s the right one.
