Done / Completed Luke's TLJ «CreepyUncle» hilt - SOLD OUT

Re: Luke Skywalker's TLJ «CreepyUncle» Lightsaber Pre-order

So do you think that the metal hero would/should have this hole?

Depends really. If you look at saber at the Con. The hole is rather shallow. So if it's been made from a metal original, then the hero must have had a hole.

My personal theory is that when they cut Luke using his own personal saber on Crait. They never built a metal hero. After all the two scenes we see it in, is very dark, and they had to CG most it anyways when removing the hand. The biggest reason I don't think there is a metal hero is the fact the pommel has very odd orientation when compared to the control box. I can see things no lining up perfectly on a test model, but I would think they would have fixed that on a metal hero.

Oh yeah I now see your point :)

Now here's the fun part I going to try to discredit my own theory:D

If the prop makers had done Google search like this "luke rotj lightsaber" they would have come across a picture of slothfurnace's RotJ build like this.

Now due to his rotating pommel lock system, some of his pictures have pommel turned ever so slightly off of center. So it's entirely possible that they replicated this:confused It seems they may have drawn some inspiration from his, what with the thick rings in the grenade section, the V-shaped groove in the buttons and the large arrows. So who knows what happened:lol

I fully support you in your conclusions.

Small news: the final version of the drawings has already been sent to the plant, hope we will see the prototype soon.

About details:
1. There will be a hole in the emitter, like we saw it on the Awesomecon saber.
2. The total number of lightsabers will be 50 pieces. If there is interest, we will make one more run when when all the hilts from the current run will be sold.
3. Static pommel cap will be available for order. Total will be 30 pieces. I think that the price will be 10-15$. Anyone who paid for pre-order will naturally receive them without a queue (if needed).
4. I'm thinking about making plexiglass stands. Similar to those you can see in my "Kylo Ren Concept lightsaber" project. I think it will cost 10$.
5. Control box cards will be two-way: one side looks like CreepyUncle (with 13 gold stripes), second side looks like WhiteGlove/Awesomecon (with 10 stripes). Everyone will be able to choose for himself which one to use.
6. Control box itself will have little screws under the LEDs.
7. I decided to make a cover that you can see in the photo - grey anodizing that looks like steel. If after manufacturing the sample it turns out that this is not what you need, we change the cover to another. But it seems to me that it will be perfect.
8. "Copper" parts will be made from brass. Natural oxidation will make them the same color as we could see in the TLJ (or in WhiteGlove/awesomecon).

Definitely interested pending the prototype.

Do you have plans for 3D printed chassis? I know a lot of guys like to have http://goth-3designs.com/ do a chassis for a saber run. Maybe he might be interested?

I have not really thought about it seriously. Let's wait for release, then we'll see

The two sided card is a great idea!

IMG_20180403_173715.jpgWill the arrows be raised as they are in this prop photo, vs sitting flush with the side of the control box? I think it's another one of the small details that adds some different touches than other hero versions

Re: Luke Skywalker's TLJ «CreepyUncle» Lightsaber Pre-order

Judging by his original post, my money is on slightly exposed like the photos and not flush.

I think the plan was to use the LED triangles that KR sells... But I don't think they are big enough after seeing all the new pictures. I'll probably be making some inserts once I get my hilt in hand.

If that's the case, any chance you might make a few extras to sell?
:)

Sorry, I don't understand correctly what you're saying.

You will install LEDs yourself, as you need. I'll just put them in the kit

I'll use my own 5.5mm LED's

Re: Luke Skywalker's TLJ «CreepyUncle» Lightsaber Pre-order

I was saying based on the original post it looks as if your green/red triangles are intended to protrude slightly. Although of course they could be slid in flush.

You mentioned a stand too? That could be a necessity as well. Sounds awesome!

I think I'll do something like this stand, but I'll remove the holes for the blade. Maybe I'll add engraving to the front panel
