It is hard to make anodizing at home. It'll be better to do it on factory.

halliwax used some oven cleaner to darken his Creepy Uncle. He had pretty good results https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=286125

I darknened and weathered my V2 with aluminium black and got some pretty good results

I agree that it would be better done in factory instead of attempting at home. I've tried all sorts of different recommendations and tricks on some older hero models and I could never get that dark look that I wanted. there are just so many clean and shiny hero versions out there already that the dark look is actually what sold me on this run. Otherwise It's Just Another Hero version with a slightly different box dimension and tri ring placement.

so my opinion only but I'm voting for factory darkened all the way.

I thought scotch brite and aluminum black was the answer to all weathering desires?
I’d like a canvas to work with, it’s easier going from shiny to dull than the other way I guess?

I shall look forward to seeing prop photos because comparing the white glove against the creepy Uncle belt hanger, the latter certainly looks more natural and shiny aluminium

Sounds good! Will you also be adding the screws and plate to the control box itself as well?

BTW the inner diameter of the ribbed section in Roman's V4 is 1". I would really love those extra millimeters in there.

As far as any type of anodizing goes.......If the machine shop delivers a product free of mill marks, anodizing would be ok. You can forget about using Aluminum Black for weathering as it will not penetrate the hard coat anodizing (clear or not).

I did get in on the run and have paid with the understanding that the screen used saber (CG or not CG) was the goal. I prefer the "natural silver" if any but would be fine with bare aluminum so that they can be weathered at the owners discretion.
