Luke's Lightsaber Mando series finale.

I thought/saw the same thing. When he first appears-- I don't think you're wrong at all! That's actually why I think what I do. I suppose maybe the literal belt-hanging scene could be a static, but I am willing to bet, like the newer ST sabers made with 3D printing involved, that it is basically the same design as the stunt.

I HEARBY DUB IT THE MANDO-LUKE

mando-Luke it is.. and a fine name at that

“I’ll second it, all in favor I call in the vote”

“Passes unanimously”

Not a hill I would die on-- but IF the Mando team didn't make this saber new from scratch and pulled from the archives, here's the only modern electronic stunt of Luke's saber that would already exist.

That said, can we tell if this thing is an LS6 or Khal's or one of the other fan-design Luke heros available? they could have just grabbed one of those-- TROS did use Roman's Graflex, so...

Your V2 is the crown jewel of my collection and I have passed on prior Hero runs because the "Hero" never really appeared in ROTJ and the one seen in TLJ had too many changes... well now is the time. I hope you end up doing a run as I am looking forward to finally adding a as-seen-on-screen Hero to my collection!

The Mando team also used Roman’s Thermal Detonators. They’ve been pulling from fans and Anovos, if it did turn out that it was an existing saber I wouldn’t be hugely surprised.

Not saying it is, I have no eye for sabers!

that the one you talking about seth?

the control box makes this very unique.. small black buttons, small arrows, looks like huge screws.. and idk if the card is actually wider then normal.. the tri ring is on the opposite side of the box.. not saying it cant be done but most kits have screws there, and i dont see screws on the other side of the hilt yet.. doesn't mean they just didn't drill an extra pommel cube for one..

i dont have a lot of experience with the V1 hero... i was never a big fan of it. Im more of a fan of the creepy uncle then the V1.. dont you all throw your tomatoes at once!

BUT im going to use my power to summon a man who knows every little detail on every replica V1 hero out there...because he practically owns each one, lets see what he thinks

I swear in one scene there isn’t any cgi on the blade and just the green tube

I have to try and screen grab it tonight

Camera is far way looking down the hallway and he brings the saber over his head to chop down. There’s like no white in the middle of the blade, looks like a solid green tube

What the hell do I know though I still can’t see sh7t lol

You’re not seeing things…I definitely felt there were shots where no VFX work had been done on the blade.

(Gets up and escorts Halliwax to the exit door) Yeah, okay, you're done milking this head injury thing. Time to go. Thanks, buh-bye, dude.

All kidding aside, and also setting aside the fact that I have 0.0% interest in the franchise, going forward, and that this is desperate fanservice/pandering coming far, FAR too late, I'll say that the most logical conclusion is that they reused and/or repurposed props made for the previous films. Or maybe they made a casting of an existing prop to create a new stunt (possibly even an FX stunt, as I agree that some shots look like they have a practical glow) then added on the new and differently-sized/spaced greeblies to the control box.

But, again, I don't care. Still looking forward to eventually reading about it in Seth's book, though. The glorious purity of prop analysis is a separate thing from my feelings concerning the franchise itself.

The fact you guys already have screen shots up this quickly is a testament to the dedication of this community. As I was watching the episode, I kept saying, it's moving too fast! I need close ups of that hilt! That first black ring after the control box does seem thicker than normal. It's already been pointed out about the smaller black boxes and thank goodness they finally moved the tri-ring to an appropriate spot. If this is a current replica, I don't own it. The control box is what's throwing me off, or maybe we just need to see higher res photos. I'm just happy this made it in the episode. Would they bother creating their own production hilt or would it be easier to grab one already made? Would a current vendor be required to sign an NDA so they couldn't even disclose it if was their hilt? Maybe now that the episode has aired we'll find out. As cool as it would be if they purchased a few from a maker in the community, it does appear different than the Hero's we've seen come out over the past couple years. Are we going to have a new debate on the neck and control box for the Mando-Luke: brass vs. copper???

Agreed on the none cgi blade for some shots. Looks like they had the short stunt style blades they used in tros. Kinda like the short Yuma blade for chopping up stunt guys.

I'm now swinging around the Creepy Uncle in my dressing gown.

Definitely fan service but the kid in me loved it.

Production-wise it's hard to say. Like I said above, the only modern FX stunt of this saber they'd have on hand within Lucasfilm would be the one used in TROS, and we can't ever make out detail on it.

Obviously Mandalorian has re-used a ton of stuff from Rogue One as its era-appropriate, especially in the stormtrooper department. SO they obviously have access to these things. That said, given that lightsabers require stunt work, practical effects, and special effects, on top of the unique way the show is shot, it's also very possible it needed to be built specifically for the shots required.

It's sounding like trained eyes are saying it's not a replica, or if it is, it's been modified. So my money is either it being the TROS stunt or scratch built. The new season of Gallery will start coming out now, hopefully we'll see some hints there. We know from last year they built multiple Darksaber props.
