Limited Run Luke Skywalker The Force Awakens Lightsaber

Hi everyone, So, here is a small update. I just got back into town. My brother has sent out the first 19 saber kits. However, he accidentally send d-rings instead of the tri-rings I bought. So, we'll be following up with the triangle rings this week to correct the mistake. Also, the USPS kinda killed us on international shipping. They just raised their rates, making the cost for shipping an international saber kit $34.00. So, if you have not paid yet, and you're having your saber kit shipped internationally, I would appreciate it if you could adjust your payment to reflect the new shipping price. Thanks, Dan.

Pm'd about shipping issue.

Just got mine! It's a beauty! It's awesome to watch this grow from debating the fourms to actually in my hands. Great work Starkiller.

As usual great work! The machine shop did nice work too. Thanks for putting this together, got mine today and couldn't be happier.

Please excuse the crummy cell phone pics, but I just HAD to share! I can't wait to start weathering and painting this bad mamajama :cool. Excellent work (as usual), Herr Starkiller!

not yet, the closer to episode 8 the more chances we get on something showing up!

What's the easiest way to paint these? I was thinking a leafing pen for the copper? But I'm not sure if they come in the right shade. Paint and a brush for the black? I have no experience in this area, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'll mask and spray to get a smooth finish. I have a satin black for the black sections, and I noticed a good 'aged brass' at Walmart that I'll probably try for the section below the emitter, but no final decision yet.

I've got some satin black rustoleum that I'm using for the black sections. I'll then handpaint several thin coats of metallic copper acrylic paint. I've actually been testing out some color blends today and I think I've found the right ratio of antique copper and antique gold to get the perfect hue. I plan on painting the copper parts black, first, with the other black sections and then putting the copper on top of that. The original prop seems to have a splotchy look on the copper section that I aim to replicate. We'll see how it goes!

I also picked up some oven cleaner to try weathering the aluminum a bit before painting. As of this moment, I'm waiting for the JB Weld to set up on the control box.

Glad everyone likes them. My brother will be sending the next batch out this weekend along with the missing triangle rings

MCM, looking forward to seeing your mix for the copper section! I probably won't start until the weekend - oven cleaner and aluminum-black 'aging' first, and I'll see how far I can get... :)

my master piece arrived today with the correct D-ring. i just wanted to thank dan and his brother for making this possible. this is one of my favorites!!
