I’ve been watching tutorials on YouTube, there’s a chick that gets right down to the pointI can hand sew some things, but not really haha. I need to learn though, nobody makes the things I want quite accurately enough
The thin tabards I think are sewn into the obi, at least in the back, but the under layer of tabards on the front I think function more like a vest, as you can see in one of the side images that it curves around the tunic collar in the backwhat I am seeing is....
Pleated EP3 style Obi-wan undertunic, next layer is another tunic with the skirt, no sleeves(sleeveless jedi tunic) then 2 layers of tabbards, 1 wide, 1 narrnow, 1 sash, 1 leather belt. I would assume the wide tabbards are sewn into the back and front waist line.
Basically your PT Jedi costume where the over tunic has no sleeves and the skirt is shorter with 1 additional layer of thin tabbards.
I’m seeing exactly what you’re seeing. I’m just trying to figure out if the layers you’ve labeled 1-4 all extend below his belt, and how far. In the shots where he sits cross legged you can’t see any of the three. It’s kinda oddSo I think this is what I see.
1. he has the long sleeve gee style shirt. This appears to have more of a luster makes it look darker than any other layer. This is also the only thing that has sleeves.
2. He has a sleeveless gee style shirt.
3. He has a sleeveless vest on. I believe the main body of the vest is the same as Return of the Jedi. It has no collar.. think of a blazer made of raw silk but no liner and you left off the sleeves, lapel, pockets, lapel and collar.
4. In Return of the Jedi, he wears a tabard that simply wrap behind his neck. It almost looks like a shaw collar/lapel. So think scarf made of raw silk to match the underlying vest. And then it is tucked into a raw silk Obi. However this time it seems to be more like The Phantom Menace Obi Wan. The tabard style is attached In the rear to the Obi, extends over each shoulder and tucked into the front of the Obi.
5. Leather belt. Some differences mainly there is now one snap instead of two.
They did keep the black stripe on the side of the pants.
Ah so you’re saying that the wider tabard stops at the obi/belt and the tunic is becoming the skirt? The sleeveless tunic has the skirt. I can't see if the under tunic is also mirroring it underneath.

Neither am I! That’s why I posted here, so thanks for the input. I understand the prequel Jedi costumes fairly well, and they changed some techniques between those films, and they all had their quirks to figure out. This one is no different, just a different mystery to solve!that's what it looks like to me at least. I'm not an expert though so...
I don’t think it’s another tabard, it’s just the trim of the sleeveless tunic. Like this..Ah so you’re saying that the wider tabard stops at the obi/belt and the tunic is becoming the skirt?
Right I see that, but it looks like there’s two layer on top of that tunic.I don’t think it’s another tabard, it’s just the trim of the sleeveless tunic. Like this..

That’s really impressive for ‘hacked together’! The only thing that I am uncertain of is that on the back view it looks like only one (the top) tabard, and from the side view it looks like the wider tabard connects together on the back. Here's a really fast thing I hacked together to try and make it more visually clear.

Go back to my original post about that layer. I say it’s another vest style layer like his Return of the Jedi vest and the tabard drapes over that. Not two tabards. The difference is that in this version the tabard connects to the Obi in back as opposed to draped around his neck like Return of the Jedi.
oh that’s marvelous!! ( pun intended lol )Here's a really fast thing I hacked together to try and make it more visually clear.
