I plan on using this...
How close you guys think this is?
it could have been, I didn't think so, but you are right. You could see a lot more of the metal in Yuma.
The other scenario would be...since those props were all from the same cast - there could have been more than one from ANH, painted black. It's a stretch, but hey
and that lever, it has similar properties. It isn't the same type of lever though.
I believe there was another hilt used for the sail barge scenes, referred to as the "Yuma stunt" that has some unique features all it's own. Caine , please chime in here!
What about the hilt hanging from Luke's belt as he climbs up the side of the barge? IIRC, it has no clamp card or lever that we can see- just 2 screws to hold the control box on. Here's an oldie, but a goodie:

The more I look at the picture of that lever, the more I think it's simply a variation on the standard clamp levers, with the curve underneath allowing you to tighten the clamp without scratching the clamp body. If they had a number of Graflex 3 cells and other old camera equipment to hand, then why would they go to such lengths to dismantle and cut a pocket pair of pliers/grenade lever and alter them to fit a threaded rod to make such an unusual and cumbersome detail, especially for a duelling prop? Why not simply tighten the clamp with a screw or a small bolt?
And do we know of any variations or similar type clamps to the Graflex? Could the lever be from an entirely different camera clamp?
Questions questions!:lol
