Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit (pics added post #41)

Interested please add me to the list. I think the copper plated part would be awesome! I am all for accuracy but that would just look too cool!

Just a small update guys.
I will be getting the casting tomorrow which should answer most of my angle questions.
I am trying to get the machinist to do a first article for us to see.

Big thumbs up for said first article. Great idea, can't wait to see it.

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit (pics added post #41)

I just spent most of this afternoon with my machinist working on the program.
He took measurements from the casting graciously provided from Manooga and then blew the whole thing up to about 11 1/4 inches long.
After that we looked at everything and tried to extrapolate the proper thickness of the body and parts . This was a real challenge considering this casting was probably a few generations down.
The casting did answer some things other than the proper angle of the grooves, it also showed how the pommel slots were cut.
I was not aware of the little step in the pommel cuts before the angle kicks in.
At any rate, i am very comfortable with the drawing, which came in at a little bit over the 11 1/4 inches.
Check it out, I think we are really close to what the original is as far as size.

You haven't signed up yet. This is an Interest thread. You have to keep an eye out for when he starts the Run thread. That will be where people sign up.

I'm interested. Prefer a copper neck. Would like to see further details

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit (pics added post #41)

Will there be a new thread for the official run list?

I usually just just check this thread and don't exit out to the whole "Project Runs" subforum

Most likely what'll happen is he'll post here to notify everyone when a Run thread has been created. That's usually the way these Interest threads go.
