Re: Luke on Tauntaun Stop motion replica. Luke riding!
Thanks Julien, Jim really is one talented & very patient bloke. As it stands at the moment the Armature's are being measured for reproduction & the the taun fur will start going on as soon as the armature is back in hand.
The Luke has been more trouble than originally thought though, the latex cast was not going to stand the tests of time & the silicone paint isn't doing the trick. Jim then tried a similar technique to what Rich has been doing with the Slave 1, by brushing in latex to for a skin over the silicone. This again was not good enough as the latex skin wasn't strong enough. Jim has decided to combine all the best parts of each process & make the ultimate Luke stop mo puppet. The head, gloves & boots will be resin (for longevity & a superior paint job & look) the body will be a silicone cast & the clothes will now be cloth not latex.
I never for one minute thought that it would need this much development but Jim is a Legend & you don't become a Legend by cutting corners. The end result is about 2-3 weeks away now, which for me will feel like a lifetime but to see it all saddled up & ready for action will be incredible. This all started for me last October & I think you'll agree it has been an amazing thing to see come together. I never doubted that it would happen but I just didn't know how at the time. Here are plenty of pics of the Luke mock up that I was sent whilst on vacation last week.
Trust me there's loads more but I'll spare you all.
Those pics of Luke are stunning Guy !
He really did a great job and you said that's just a rough mockup... ! Wow :love
