Some of the 4.5 billion dollars he got for Lucasfilm is not in cash, but in stock in Disney. My guess is that he will hold on to the stock and put the cash into the foundation.

Now that he is getting 'old', he is just setting his affair in order publicly to encourage everyone that can do that, to do it.

Yeah sadly all that money goes overseas instead of this country where it belongs. These charity things all these people do need more restrictions to stop helping other countries when our people are starving. I'm interested to see if any of the stuff Lucas donates to stays in this country or ends up in the middle of nowhere.

Not me. I thought it was a smart move - with the examples of Pixar and Marvel already in hand it seems a natural fit and since he'd already announced his retirement some time ago, why on Earth should it be held against him? But this is a very nice coda to it.

I wish to formally take back (almost) everything bad I've ever said about Mr. Lucas. The Prequels will never delight me but if he goes ahead with this then his life and work add up to a big win for humanity.

Wes, I can't not ask. Where the heck did this come from?! Are the profits arising from Lucasfilm projects somehow geographically restricted to arising from the US only? Because I tend to think quite a lot of my money has found its way into George's pocket over the years. Ditto Disney...these outfits market to the *world*.

FWIW I expect/guess that the bulk of the money WILL be spent on the US education system; sure seems to need it if the reports are accurate - but if some of it it isn't, that's no skin off your nose.
