Lowes Plastidip $5.99

Ah crap. When did that happen? Guess I'll have to ration whatever PD I still have. I never understood why we never seem to get that stuff. It's not like there's that many competing products that do the same thing up here. :facepalm

I went in a couple days ago and they said they just removed them from the shelves a week prior. Of course I had to procrastinate that long...

doesn't this stuff crack when dry on foam?

I remember someone using it before to that result

I've used it. It's terrible. When you spray it on, it leaves a texture almost like truck bed liner. And if the foam flexes at all, it cracks.

The spray on plastidip isn't a good deal either. I used that on my helmet. On can was enough for just two coats. And it was very light. I've since switched to the brush on. 3 cans coated my entire suit with a MUCH thicker coating. I believe the brush on plastidip was $1 more at lowes than the spray on. So $7.99 I think but it will coat as much as about 8 spray cans.

I bought the straight undercoating vs the liner coating. It seems to spray on really well, seals the foam in one pass for the most part. More layers would smooth out the texture of the foam but I don't have the time for that as I am using the mats from Harbor Freight and they are not nearly as smooth as foamies. Any imperfections will become battle damage.

The Rustoleum costs more but the can is larger and it seems to coat a little faster, though I only used Plastidip once so my opinionis not as well informed.

For the record, they also seemed to have pulled Plastidip from my Lowes as well. THey had a full rack the other day.

This question is kind of a leap but does anyone know the equilvalent to Plasti-Dip for Japan? There's got to be other people living in Japan on here building a suit. :)

i think home depot has it for the same price. i picked up 2 cans. came home and found another full can :) i should be good to go :D :D

thx for the heads up though. every discount counts when you get to the paint stage
