Well its almost Halloween and being a 501st member i think its cheating if i use my Vader suit hehehe.

So i wanted to make another costume to use on these days at parties and all, but im in a low low budget situation... I choose Wolverine street clothes, just because i have similar items i can use.

I already had a similar motor bike jacket, boots and oviusly some jeans...
I really wanted some of those magnificent Superman plexiglas Claws but i do not have th cash.

So i went and bought the halloween claws from ebay (15 bucks)and decided to mod them kinda like Supermans.

The claws themselves are not bad at all, they are hard plastic and very safe, abit too thick but good enough.

So once you cut out the horrible hand plate you need to carefully remove the excess plastic with some pliers. You end up with this:

Then you just use the dremel tool to make the correct shape

You do this to all of them, thedious process but very easy to do. Then you have to cut some coat hanger wire, about 5 inches long each piece. And use the dremel again to make a small slot a bit narrower than the wire to get a tight fit. The you bend about 1inch of wire for an L shape that wil rest inside the claw.

Use some mighty puddy or whatever to seccure the wire and let it set for 24hrs at least before bending the wires again. Find a piece of wood or plastic that is about 2 inches by 1 inch by 1/4 and drill holes for the wires to go in.
Then you bend the wires and see if the lenght is right for your fist closed. Cut to your needed lenght and then insert them in to the handle.

OK i havent finished the second one but its almost done.

Since these claws were cheap i managed to get the belt buckle and the dog tag of the bay too. Thanks to the tips given here by THEMAN

So last night i suited up for a test drive heheh.. and I think it looks very decent... I still need to get better shirts, specialy the under one (W.B.) and I might mod the jacket to have the orange details...

The hardest thing to do will be to grow a beard :lol its not in my genes :lol

Freakin' brilliant! So how long are the blades (not including the portion that slips over the back of your hand).

Next step: gum spirits and a trip to the false hair store! :)

That's going to look nice. Try just using a stipple brush to give yourself some stubble. What you really need is sideburns.

Thanks a lot :D and each claw is 10 inches long (not counting the portion that goes over the hand) by 1-1/8 wide and 3/8 thick on the thickest point.

Ok i tried combing my hair wolverine like and here is the result, i need to let it grow a bit more cause im not wearing that Wig hahahaha

Cheers

if it takes you a hard time to grow a beard, stop shaving now.

for a costume, i start planning how my hairs going to look from the start of planning. an example would be my comedian costume, i had to figure out the best way to get my hair to be like his because mine is extra thick, and needed to be thinned. it took a few visits to get it right. not to mention i had to shave down to just a mustache so i had to get used to that too. im not really a fan of wigs, has to be my natural hair.

Are you going for the Jackman look? You should just go for the comic book version - you could wear a cowboy hat and not have to worry about your hair.

Yup stoped shaving now and no hair cutting till after... Thanks Man with out a name...

Thanks Superman, comming from the guy who makes the best damn claws out there i feel blushed hehehe.

Bizzarro, I would rather try the Jackman look mostly because the group of people that im going will not know the comicbook cowboy hat look... However i will try it for my own ego satisfaction hehehe. Thanks.

Nice job on the conversion! I saw those claws at the store and was thinking about it too just to have the claws.

Love the claws!! Glad to see this being done. I bought a set last year for like $12 because I couldn't believe how good they looked and how sturdy. I will have to get around to doing this conversion.

Yes, they are really sturdy and safe too... they have good heft too.. Thanks for your comments.

Yes, they are really sturdy and safe too...

The only reason I haven't got aluminum claws by now is I have a three year old who loves Wolverine and would poke his eyes out accidentally with Daddy's claws by jumping off the couch and landing wrong or something.

But this is excellent; I just bought these off of ebay. Thanks for the clear pics and tutorial. "A tedious process but easy to do" fits my time for the hobby perfectly, now. :)
