Lost season 6 with spoilers beware

I think the crash really happened, and that only the flash sideways was Purgatory, They all died "eventually", as Christian said. Some lived longer, some didn't.

Yes, the crash and the island were real. Remember Christian mentioning that they (the losties) constructed this place so they could all find each other again because the time they spent with each other was the most important in their lives.

If the crash/island was never real, none of that makes any sense, since they didn't know each other.

I found the scene where Ben and Locke forgave each other to be the most moving in the entire series.

I'm not sure I like the "flash sideways" being purgatory. I was all choked up until Christian said "You're dead" and then I wasn't really sure what to make of that. I mean, Faraday's mom was trying to keep Desmond from figuring it all out and they had all these entire alternate lives including Jack having a son. Who/what is Jack's son supposed to represent in this afterlife?

I think I'll be watching this episode again, if not the entire series. I noticed that Walt and Michael weren't present at the "moving on," nor smokey or jacob. I'm guessing Michael moved on and so did Jacob when the fire ran down. Who knows about Smokey.

Well, not technically Purgatory, but something like that: some kind of place where you wait until you are ready to move on. As maboot mentioned, all major faith emblems were portrayed on the stained glass, even tho they were on a Christian church; so it is very possible they share a common place where souls "hang out" for a while.

The ending reminded me of James Cameron's Titanic ending, everyone meeting at the grand staircase.

The line that stuck out after the series closed out for me was Kate telling Jake how much she missed him. That was a subtle, classy touch. Because, you know, she died after him who knows when.

I've been rough on the show this season, but that was a good finale. I walk away totally satisfied with the show, and the time invested. It wasn't a perfect final season, but the finale worked for me.

Michael told Hurley to tell Libby that he was sorry for what he did, so he "might" have been absolved earlier and "moved on" to "Heaven" before them. I believe Walt was still alive.

Incredible ending. Just... wow.

I'm thinking to myself that none of the mysteries ever really mattered.. there didn't need to be any answers. It was never about the Island or the mysterious happenings or any of it.. it was about the journey that these people took when they were together.

Well said.

And after all, it was Hurley who took care of the island!!! I was really hoping in the end for Hurley to step up and take the job! I also liked how Ben got redeemed.

When you think about it, the ending is genius. It chooses faith over science, and those who don't like the ending seemed to have wanted some big scientific end-all answer. Yet if you watch the entire series carefully the themes of science vs. faith are HUGELY prevalent the entire time. They tell you THE WHOLE SHOW to trust in faith. And if you did, if you just went with it and had faith they would end it well then you would be totally satisfied.

Well said!!!

Well, they don't matter for the characters, or for them finding a way to let go and move on. They probably matter to lots of the fans though. But they wrapped up the story in a way that you can be satisfied and still ask questions. It was clever.

I haven't watched it but reading all the spoilers I now feel like I probably really won't watch it tonight. Maybe after all the hype dies down. I know I am going to be disappointed.

I have to say I really like how it ended overall. I think the only things that are bothering me are:
1) The episode explaining the origins of Jacob and Smokey (I ended up rooting for Smokey after that one, since Jacob turned out to be a loser living with his mom as an adult with no ambition to leave or do anything for himself, and Smokey just wanted to see the world and no one ever gave him a good reason why (remember he was still human so the "spreading evil to the world" bit didn't apply yet)).
2) Jack's son in the afterlife. Who/what is he? Christian? Jack's childhood? I need to re-watch the season for that one.
3) What about all those guys that Sayid killed at the restaurant? Were they in purgatory, too? What do their "deaths" mean?

Anyone else like Richard apparently becoming mortal and wanting to live? I hope he had a great life after leaving the island.

Im really sorry for everyone who expected everything to be laid out. They really set themselves up for dissapointment.

on another note, i found the target ad for smoke detectors incredibly amusing
