Walt using his psychic powers to motivate Locke? Maybe a piece of Walt's essence left behind to haunt the island like Michael and the other ghosts?

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this but, when Sawyer and Kate swim
out to the boat, they were in the location by the long rock pier. Yet when
they all reach the other island and swim back in, they are returning to the
same spot where he and Kate swam out to the boat originally. Were we not
supposed to catch that?

It wasn't quite the same rock. But in the first scene I thought "why are they jumping in the water there when they can easily walk out to the end of that rock and save themselves all that swimming?"

The answer is....you can't walk on computer generated rocks. look again.

Here's my latest, where I explain the Verdansky/Radzinsky thing, as well as predict why Jacke's paralysis and hearing loss is a good thing.

I also mention Jungle Book and manage to not give a shout-out to my favorite character, Frank Lapidus, although we post a gratuitous picture. :)

Eh, I'm starting to think that Jack is becoming "the" candidate. His little speech on the boat and his willingness to stay on the Island are making me lean that way.

We're definitely whittling down the number of people involved, though.. Looks like Widmore just took out everybody with Locke, except for Jack. And the other candidates are already on the boat, so we're almost back down to just the main cast again. But don't forget about Richard, Ben, and Miles.. off getting boomsticks.

I'm starting to get a feel for the whole "candidate" thing. I'll wrap it in tags just in case:

I think that Jacob wasn't doing anything special to keep MiB on the Island.. his mere presence was enough, due to the fact that he willingly chose to stay in order to keep MiB contained. The candidates for his replacement have to make that same choice. That's why MiB can't leave unless all of the candidates go with him. It wasn't just "everybody" that had to leave.. it was just the candidates. They all had to leave together, willingly, and willingly take MiB with them. That's the only way he can get off the Island, is to be intentionally set free, even if the people doing it don't fully understand the consequences.

I think what's going to happen here in the next few episodes (maybe next week? the ep is called "The Candidate"), is that one person, I'm leaning toward Jack, will step forward and say "I'm staying", thus continuing to keep MiB trapped. He'll be furious beyond belief, but there's still rules.. he won't be able to touch Jack. All of the remaining candidates, all of the remaining people on the Island, will side with Jack.. none of them will kill him just because MiB says to.

All of that still leaves unanswered questions, like Adam and Eve. I've always been certain that they're main cast members, even before the time-travel stuff started. I think there's going to be some more time traveling before we're done.

And I hope beyond hope that there's one big flashback left. There's one character that's never gotten one.. the Island itself. Which, it seems, will probably tie in with MiB's flashback.. I think we're due for one of those, too.

Who else thinks that the second-to-last episode will end with MiB saying "My name's (insert main character here).".........L O S T.

Nice stuff in there this week! I was just talking to my boss about SW Locke's awakening! We've seen island Sun only speaking Korean, SW Sun recognizing Locke, Breakthroughs for Hurley, Charlie, and Desmond, and now good ol' real locke peeking through his SW counterpart! The man can still factor into this!!!

Sucks to have to wait two weeks for another episode!

My theory so far:

Hurley will be Jacob's replacement. He's got the supernatural connection and is learning to be a leader. Jack will return to life off the island as a changed man (he knows he can't "fix" everything). Sun and Jin leave to raise their baby. Kate and Sawyer leave to be together. Lapidus survives to fly them home.

Ben dies doing something selfless for once.

Sayid repents but is then killed by the monster for doing so.

Miles dies but not before giving us some more crucial beyond-the-grave info.

Desmond will continue to be the bridge between the two timelines, doing something in the "X" timeline to help those in the original timeline.

Richard dies (hapily) perhaps in an attempt to kill the monster.

Adam & Eve will be shown to be Jacob and MIB's parents.

The monster will not be killed, but will remain trapped on the island.

All-in-all, I would not be that surprised. :)

I like the theories of Jack being THE candidate however, what's really starting to throw a wrench into the plan is his son.

Jack doesn't have a son in the real time line and I'm predicting a Arwen moment - in Return of the Kings when she's leaving Aragorn thinking there is nothing for her on ME, she gets a vision of her son and stays.

If MIB is able to show Jack or tell him about his son, or if he finds out some how that Jacob did something to prevent his son from ever being born, that might sway him NOT to stay. Unless... maybe leaving means the other candidates merge with the other timeline, which is good for them (mostly) and maybe if Jack stays, his other timeline goes on without him. So his son gets to live on with the other Jack, he just doesn't get to experience it. Maybe he can create some sort of window like Jacob did and 'watch'...

I didn't catch a bit about jack being paralyzed. Figured it all is easily explainable as being majorly dazed from the explosion. I mean, if the island won't let him die, i can't see it letting him become paralyzed and having to depend on smokie for everything. Smokie could still get off the island by simply not caring for jack and letting him die. He'd be delayed a week or two, but could still leave without jack's help.

Can Locke fly the plane?

It would seem that if he can read minds, he could have the knowledge to do it. If not, killing lapidas is a sure fire way that no one leaves the island.

Isn't Lapidas a candidate? If so, Locke said that he needs all of them to leave the island with him.

Thanks, Douglas! Yeah, the wait is going to suck, but I just started watching Season One with all the commentaries on, and that'll take the edge off for me. :)

Yeah, it's just a theory, based on his slow move from Man of Science to Man of Faith, completely taking over Locke's role. Plus, it'll make a nice mirror to Dimension X if Jack X saves Locke X's legs and Fake Locke is responsible for Jack's (no doubt temporary) paralysis.

I love Jedi2016's theory about the nature of the candidates and Guri's about why Jack will stay. I think they are both 100% on the nose with those.

So did I misunderstand the ending or what? Did Jack die in the explosion and was brought back to life after NotLockeMonster touched him? He did say "You are one of us now!"

Confuseded and I guess it being 2am didn't help me understand the ending any better!

I didn't think that Jack died at all, he was dazed from the blast and the ringing in his ears was just an after effect of being too close.

I think MIB is just assuming Jack's allegiance or he just lies a lot. He told Claire she didn't have a choice too, and obviously with just a few words from Kate she left him. Syad too...
