For those that want a basic rundown of disassembling and reassembling: (note used names for pieces on the parts list that came with the gun so you can ID things on the diagram easier)
1) remove front compensator screw & front sight screw, pop sight off and slide compensator off
2) remove center pin, careful because the finger guard pin & spring may want to pop out & go flying as you remove the slide & slide stop lever
3) remove grips
4) remove finger guard plate & don't loose/drop the safety guide pin
5) remove rear grip pin & slide magazine grip bumper off
6) remove rear grip by sliding it down
7) remove screw on the right side of the gun in the shaft of the ambidextrous safety shaft. Carefully wiggle the right side of the safety lever off. There is a small ball & spring under there, set them aside.
8) remove left side of safety, & grip lever (or beaver tail) will pop out. There is a spring on it, but it usually doesn't fall off its little peg. The small plastic magazine slider plate (p22) will probably fall out at this time too.
9) remove the pin that holds the hammer assembly in place & remove the assembly. You may need a punch & hammer to knock it loose. the right side of the pin is knurled so make sure hit it with the punch on the left side to knock it out.
10) remove the metal piece labeled z18 (its in front of the hammer assembly)
11) remove the magazine release. You have to use a small screw driver, push in slightly and turn maybe a 1/4 counterclockwise... there is a small slot for a catch nub that then slides out of the way and the the catch release will then slide out.
12)slide trigger out and you should have a pile of parts about like this:
Reassembly is basically just the reverse swapping in the silver parts (trigger, hammer, slide release lever, grip pin & safety guide pin, ambidextrous safety lever, grip lever, & mag grip bumper) Swapping over the finger guard plate to silver or leaving black is optional, I can't really tell by screen shots what color it should be. May want to paint flat black the grip arms that come up off the silver grip bumper
A few shots on the buildup process:
Here's putting the safety guide pin in place, the finger guard plate on, then putting the top slide assembly on (use a small screwdriver through the center pin hole to hold it in place), then sliding the finger guard spring & pin in the finger guard plate, put the slide release lever in place, & then push the center pin in place .
Pic showing the small ball & screw on the right side of the gun under the right side safety arm.
How the right side grip has to be modified for the safety if you use the 'colt' grips from the black KWC 1911 HPA
Here's both mine finished:
