Looking for an LCI model

My granddad was on an LCI in WWII and I'd like to build a model of it for him. The only ones I've found so far are only about 6" long. Anybody know of a place to get good WWII models? Thanks,

John

I'd look at Verlinden and Haseqawa first, then check out the Squadron catalogs or back issues of Military modeler magazine.

I found these on a quick search:

Hope this helps. Do you have a particular one in mind? I have a few good friends that do nothing but military modeling. Maybe they would know more.

Thanks for the site. I looked but they don't have any LCI's. The have lots of other landing ships. Any LCI model would do. I'd just like one bigger than the 6" ones I've been able to find. Thanks for the help,

John

Italeri makes an LCVP. How similar is that? Could you convert it? Its 1/35th scale and about 12 inches long.

Not even close. The LcVP are similar to the ships you see in the begining of Saving Private Ryan that dump the troops on the beach. An LCI is more like a small battleship. I believe they held 200 men. They were used to clear the beaches and provide equipment. Thanks for the help though!! :)
