cool topic,
A long time ago, when I was working with Chris L. , we had a unique opportunity to meet with a gentleman here in Florida that collected obscure props. I'd say this was back around
1994. Anyway, He owned a screen used Loki mask and wanted it repaired on the back. fortunately, even though it was in our possession a few weeks , we never did anything to it so it still keeps it's value today. A few of the details I recall to this day was the finish, so here goes, take it with a grain of salt or leave it, up to you. First the green you all are using on the replicas doesn't appear rich enough, same with the patinas. the yellow reminded me of subdued ochra but more yellow-green, and there's wasn't a lot of brown on it, it was more of a wash. Looking back on it, you would want to use oils to paint one of these for the brilliance of the hue. The last thing I remember, even to this day, was that it had a satin clear all over it. This was my deciding factor not to touch it as I didn't want to deal with the clear verses paint situation, I was naive, what can I say. We gave back the prop and I convinced the owner to leave it as is for keeping it's value. Anyway, that's what I recall about this prop
Cheers,
Will
